I try to speak my mind but sometimes I go "over the top". When someone bashes someones work, I respect there opinion. I just wish my opinion would get the same treatment. I had a post removed from RTCWFILES and I don't really know why. Maybe I went "over the top"? Oh well. I guess "Freedom of speech" doesn't matter anymore.

You got me curious...what did you say?? If I may comment...

I've been posting here since April and was reading posts on the site for a while before that. So far, I haven't seen much that was edited or deleted which says alot for the flexibility of the Moderators. There was one instance where I saw a thread closed and felt that it was a good idea even though some would argue that closure limits our right to free speech.

Free speech is a funny thing that I have had any number of debates about in my house with my wife and 2 kids (ages 21 and 20). Everyone has the right to free speech...you don't have the license to yell "Fire!!" in a crowded theater just because you think it would be fun to see what would happen. I've written several papers that have been published over the years in various biomed journals and books and there usually is some sort of discussion with the reviewers and/or editors as to what should be included and what should be edited...sometimes they accept what I/we want sometimes they insist that it be deleted/edited.

My point is this...we should always guard against those that would restrict our right to free speech but we also need to trust that sometimes, for the good of the many, a few or one needs to exercise restraint or remain silent. We would hope that this "one" would have more concern for the many and realize what they must do. Doesn't always work that way so we create laws that hopefully we all can live by...not a perfect system, but the best we have so far. If you feel you must, then by all means "man the barracades". Just be sure why you are doing it...is it for your own satisfaction or a concern for a wrong that needs righting?

My opinion only... SPIDER

It was mostly me blowing of steam because I got tired of people bashing peoples maps. Especially American maps. These people put alot of work into and it isn't right for someone to say it sucks. Some people will like it and some won't. The last line on my post went like "Kiss my Red, White, and Blue ASS!" I guess that was too much or something. Oh well.

Freedom of speach needs only one simple guideline to be effect. Your freedom of speach is extended until it interferes with the freedom of others. For example, you can't post pornography on a billboard because that interferes with the right of a parent to protect their children. Anyways, I agree though, I started working on a map, who knows if I will ever finish it. But I know how much work it is. If you think you can do better, do. Don't bash someone. By the way, if anyone is interested it is an axis raid on the pentagon. With a lot of hidden paths to the objective. Places you can dyno and ducts appear that lead into the war room. I think its comming along nicely, but it huge and has a lot left.

freedom of speech is one thing but extreme slandering or forcefuly opinionated words are anouther.......i know from experience. For every law that provides freedom, someone comes and makes it so that law is cut to peices...freedom of speech=to speak of anything u wish to speak of. That is impossible since people have morals and have fealings...if i posted something and you came saying "your bleep bleep" then thats freedom of speech but how does it help his cause. Freedom of Speech can not incorperate unjust slandering and bigitry.....these laws and rules will contradict each other for centuries.

Don't mind me if I don't make sense right now. I'm drunk. But after I reviewed and reread my post I realized I kinda contradicted myself. When I said "fredom of speech" I didn't take into consideration that the people putting posts bashing map makers work was a form of "freedom of speech". Even though I don't agree with people bashing people's hard work, it is their right to speak what they feel. I just wish they would take more consideration in what they say. These mappers are adding to the RTCW world. Without them, the game will quickly fade away. As a RTCW family (what I like to think of us as) we gotta realize that in order for this "family" to grow we have to embrace the ideas of others and if need be, guide them so our "family can grow. Bashing them and putting them down only leads to self-destruction. I was pissed off my post on RTCWFiles was removed on a comment section about a map pack but, oh well. Life goes on. I like to think that more people in our "family" feels the same way. Please. Say I'm right.

Of course they have the right to bash people, but you still have the right to be pissed at them for bashing. You don't restrict their right to freedom of speech by censuring them. (notice censuring not censoring). Its when you censor that you restrict others right to free speach. So yes, you are in the right in more ways than one.

Hey Detroit, I removed your post. I don't remember exactly what it said, but if the laguage was extreme or if you have too many smilies, I will delete it. I posted news about too many smilies and I will delete any post that exceeds 6 smilies. It's a simple rule to follow. Also, if your comment was directed at another comment that got deleted, no sense in keeping it. I am trying to keep it somewhat clean for all ages to visit, and it's not right for certain language to be present in a post. If You have a problem, let me know.
