I was playing over the past few days on a couple of different servers (one OSP, one that might have been shrub), and while in spectator mode, I noticed something about a particular Venom player: He could fire instantly; no warm-up time. Every time he finished firing, he'd throw down his Venom, and then pick it back up. Is there an exploit going on there? (Yes, the player's name was the same on both servers.)
Secondly: I've seen, very recently, instances where a Panzer will be running around with his pistol out--- He'll change weapon and before the tube even hits his shoulder, the rocket's on it's way. Can the warm-up start from the moment he implements the weaponbank command? I can't see any other way for him to fire so quickly.

that is probably because youre seeing it differently as a spectator then as the first person mode. (i assume youre going around with no clipping spectator mode)

Hi, Maybe you were lagging just enough to make it look like that. Pings fluctuate some and maybe that is what happened. When I use the panzer(rare) I run with the pistol and change when I see any enemy approaching. Just a faster way to get around. The player might also have his keys bound for faster weapon selection as well. I use my scroll wheel on my mouse to change weapons or the number keys but there are faster ways. AS far as the venom. If the server was shrub maybe it was in fun mode. Alot of things change when in that mode. It's a blast but everyone should know the rules.
I was seeing both of these instances from in-person, in-game, not spectator mode. My ping was averaging 60 or so. (I'm on a cablemodem, and play only on servers that ASE or GSA say are < 100ms ping for me.)
I know it wasn't fun mode; the Venom was the same player on one OSP server and one (might have been) shrub server, doing the trick with his Venom. I think the thing that really perks my attention is that *the moment* he stopped firing, he dropped his weapon, and then picked it back up again. Almost as if he... ::Thinking:: ...issued a +dropweapon while he was still +attack--- so in-game, it would still be "spinning"? (He was on my team, so I wasn't the target... I was the engy crouched next to him!)
As far as the Panzer... that *could* have been lag. IIRC, pings were jumping between 60 and 150 in that game... but it happened more than once. I'm thinking a bind to something like "weaponbank 3; wait; wait; +attack; wait; wait; -attack", so that the warm-up time on the Panzer starts right after the server receives the message to change weapons.
I'd love to go into a server with some folks and play 'test the engine'.

This is no exploit, or cheat. If you create a server with wolfrunner, you have the option of changeing how long it takes for a panzer to "warm up" or charge, or if it even has to, same thing w/ the venom. you can also alter the speed in which he draws his panzer...
Pretty neat huh?
If you are serious about creating a server, you should totally download WolfRunner!
I understand that WolfRunner allows you to tweak all the variables (although all WolfRunner does is tweak the variables in the .cfg files, which you can do manually anyhow.)
However... this wasn't the case. It happened again two nights ago--- my average ping was around 50. I saw someone running around with his pistol, and then was instantly firing with his Venom. (Long before the model had finished the "weapon change" animation.)
I then swapped to a Venom myself.. no such change. My spin-up was there, and I couldn't start the spin-up until after the weapon had fully come up.
I thought this was odd, so I even asked a teammate to try this. He said he'd noticed the guy too, but hadn't thought too much about it. He, too, couldn't get the Venom to do what this other player was doing.
Anyhow... my teammate said he'd contact the admin, a friend of his.
