I need some help with buying a "Voyage home"-dvd. Some time ago I bought the Director's Edition of Star Trek II and really liked it. Now I wonder if there is a director's edition of Star Trek IV. I've seen a "special edition" but I am not sure if it's the same as a director's edition or not. And if not, which edition of this movie is the best in your opinion? Thanks for the help!

id take the Special Edition... the Director's most probably has a lot of director's comments, actor interviews, etc. the Special Edition probably has more deleted scenes, and goodies like that

I have the latest DVD boxset of the movies, and to my knowledge, the only Director's Editions (at the moment) are ST1 and ST 2, and ST 3 & 4 are Special Editions. The rest aren't marked as anything special. Unfortunately I couldn't tell you whether or not there are more scenes in the Special Edition than the normal one, because I only ever saw ST4 on TV before getting this DVD box set, and we all know how much is cut from the TV versions. Hell, some of the most important parts of ST6 were cut out of the TV version -- for instance, I had no idea that the Klingon assassin at the end of the movie wasn't actually a Klingon! They had cut the whole idea out completely, as well as those Federation big-wigs planning a rescue of Kirk in the President's office! Madness.
