Hi all,

Why is it that as a medic others can call me from way down the other end of a BIG map - even when, by all logic what with shells, bullets, airstrikes (and cheesy Axis Music playing on those damn indestrucible little radio's that the German high command invented and gave to all their troops) I couldn't possibly hear them. We already have zones in some maps, I don't know what they are called but the message when you are in the war room that tells you that you are in the war room (as if I didn't know!) is based on a zone. Only players in the war room and zones immediately adjacent should hear a call from someone in the war room for a medic. That would stop me being deafened by calls when, as frequently happened after killing all the attacking Allies BY MYSELF and being the only Axis left alive EVERY SINGLE OTHER AXIS PLAYER ON THE MAP THEN CALLS ME OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!!!.

And while I am here and chatting about voice calls why shouldn't we be able to have custom voice calls for each map.

For instance as an allied engineer I would like to be able to call support to a particular point on a map - as in beach to call my team to the "sea wall breach" or "FB Door" rather than typing it in. This should have been simple, just distribute the special map related voice chat messages with the maps themselves. You could still have all your normal messages, just a small group that would be customised for each map using a different set of keys.

What does everyone think good idea or what?

There is the first call when someone first dies its a "Medic!" sounding like it is comming from a dead man. That one you can only hear if you are close by. When they call medic via voice chat, it is over the radio, and therefore can be heard. When they call for a medic, if you look down, it shows where who called, and where they are. Plus you always have your compass.

Hi Whubee,

I originally thought the same thing about "unknown" in the voice chat message, however it doesn't actually do that! A few times when I have called for a medic it has actually said I am in "unknown" even though I damn well know where I am! I think unknown covers areas that are not part of a "zone". Sometimes I can see a call for a medic way across other side of map (ie: Beach from War Room in beach map), other times I see a medic being called from "unknown".

Does anyone have more info on this.

Had a lt in a map last night who kept calling for ammo, newbie just stood there when others around him called for ammo, someone eventually shot him, but he got message in end and started dishing ammo.

Don't know how serious a mod it would be for custom messages per map, I believe current voice chat only uses up to number 5 on keyboard. Custom voice chat could be put in at number 6 with defaults for the maps that don't come with their own, ie: objective 1 - objective2 etc.

Any modders reading have comments?
