Tell me, which is closer to the caretaker array. 1 - Earth. or 2 - The Gamma Quadrant' end of the Bajoran Wormhole.

The map is a bit wrong...the caretakers array is about 15 more degrees to the east.

It's more than a little off, Borg Space isn't anywhere near that far out either.

This is more accurate in terms of where the Array was;

thats from DITL.org Even so, that's still a ... 35,000 or so trip.

Against the 75,000...

Hmm... *looks left* 75,000 lightyears, and chances are I'd encounter the Borg quite a bit... *looks right* 35,000 lightyears, and changes are I'd encounter the Dominion. Maybe they'd let us (or help even) get home. you know, big diploamtic thing. if not we can just near enough skirt their borders round the upper edge... meh.

now if you say, why would they think that? well they jsut launched from DEEP SPACE NINE. They were hardly in the Badlands, near the AQ end of the wormhole when that wave thingio happened. meh. I wonder what the show would have been like with the shorter route, but still 7-year long story. We could have gotten a different DS9, or they could have had the dominion as much more southern than that map... you know, oval shaped territory, most in the middle of the GQ.

Well the other way would have meant going through Dominion space...even though they didn't know how hostile they were at the time.

I would probably aim for the wormhole, but let's keep in mind that wormhole was artificial, and it did close at least once. It would suck to get there after a long trip and have no wormhole anymore.

Your map is inaccurate, don't use it in any example.

"Caretaker" took place between episodes "The Abandoned" and "Civil Defence" of DS9 Season 3. By this time DS9 was aware of the Dominion Threat and already had recieved the Defiant.

Despite Caretaker being aired in Januray 95 and the two DS9 episodes in October 94, the Stardates of each episode place them as such.

WOW...so there was a good reason to take the other path home! Amazing thanks Hock! I thought is was just because the other worm hole was closer.

either way they would've have to face one of two evils...the borg or the dominion. But seeing this brings a lot of thought of them saving some pain and agony facing the borg.
