So I was thinking about this after watching some Voyager today. Given two choices, death or assimilation, which would you choose? In death you atleast remain yourself for your entire life. You never have to share your mind with billions of others. Which is why I would ultimately choose death. But I can why someone might rather live as a Borg then die as a human. Power, intelligence and so on.

Indeed, that is why I think I would want to be assimilated. But I would 'negotiate' with the collective to retain, if it's only a little bit, of my humanity, that way I could live with Borg perfection and with Human reasoning. The real best of both worlds =p

Nope, they do as they are told, so apart from physical power and zombie-like movement speed they got nothing. since they have no mind of their own the intelligence of others that you can access is of no value.
I'd probably choose death.
i've choosen death, but now im thinking a little bit further. Unimatrix zero etc.. who knows some sort of janeway girl comes their and saves us. Then we head for the feds and they can make us back like seven of nine. That means a stronger human =p
That's really a hard decision to make. I wouln't really know what to choose. These are rather two extremes. I couldn't live with the thought that I had to live my live by being surpressed by the thoughts and of billions of aliens being forced upon me. I'm also not desperate yet to day. I think life has still things to offer. Maybe I'll pick assimilation and hope for the best. Perfection doesn't sound that bad, but then again, the Borg does seem to have an odd idea of what perfection is.
Then there's the fact that Borg don't seem to fancy sedatives when they put all kinds of fancy 'upgrades' in you. I don't mind being a collective being, though I don't think I could bear the pain that assimilations brings with it. I suppose death is a more favorable option.

Yes, but death in what way? Being on a ship that's being destroyed by a cutting beam and being borded? Or after a long fight with a Borgdrone he desides to snap your neck? Or are you thinking more like instant death by phaser or hypo?
That's the question isn't it? I would like to die quick. There's no use in dying in a very slowly and painfull way, I'd rather be assimilated then. If the pain will the equally bad.

I 'll take death...
If live isn't bareble anymore, then death might be the logical choice. Still, I believe there will have to happen a great deal before I would choose to die.
