ive read there is speculation on there being a 4th race in Starcraft2 but... we can only wait and see

think about it mind my spelling:)

I really don't think the Xel-Naga would feature as a playable race.

However, an appearance of the Xel-Naga would certainly make for some good storylines. Perhaps a experimental zerg-protoss merger too... a couple of special units

The Hybrids could be a NPC race that's not that's only in SP, like the Naga in WCIII:FT. I haven't played SC in a long time but who were the Xel-Naga again?

The Xel-Naga were the original creators of the Protoss and the Zerg. A sort of semi-god species (or gods) trying to create perfection.

i'm sorry to say this but.... i got this off gamespot's info

"In terms of basic gameplay details, Starcraft II will be what vice president of game design Rob Pardo calls "a true sequel to Starcraft." The sequel is confirmed to feature only the original three playable races from the previous games: the Protoss, the Zerg, and the Terrans; there will be no fourth race, not even the Zerg/Protoss hybrid that appeared in a mission in Brood War."

however.... "according to creative director Andy Chambers, the enigmatic Xel'Naga, the mysterious race that helped the Zerg and Protoss evolve into what they are, will also figure prominently into Starcraft II's story."

so it means that you will not control the xel'naga or maybe even fight or see them in action like the naga in WC3:FT. But the xel'naga will somehow fit in the story like a mystery puzzle piece, probably like Brood War's version where they only showed Containers of Xel'Naga.

Extra races depends entirely on if SC2 is still based within the Koprulu Sector.

I theorise that at some point, expansion pack or sequel, the game will have to move out of Koprulu and expand, and at that point, we'll see new races.

This, my friends, is a perfect example of someone who doesn't even know the first thing about Alien vs Predator or StarCraft, beyond the fact that both have three primary species.

I mean, seriously. How can anyone familiar with both species make the comparison? Xenomorphs and Zerg have nothing in common, Yautja and Protoss have nothing in common, and the only things the Marines and Terrans have in common are that they're human, they have Marines, and they use assault rifles, flamethrowers, and generally projectile-based weapons with a few energy weapons at the top of their tech tree - as do the humans in just about everything else.

No comparison at all. Totally different. :clueless:

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

Maybe in an expansion or sequel... But definitely not the coming version of SC2

if i remember correctly.... it was a mission in the icelands where you had to retrieve something and you come across these Containment things (green tube structure) with some sort of thin skeleton in it. those were the hybrids.
