Well now that I've got the time and the money I've decided get back into SFC. When we last saw or hero some years ago he was finishing up SFC 1 and ready to head off to college. Now I'm back and have decided to pick up right were I left off at SFC1. But which should I buy before SFC3? Are SFC2 and SFC:OP the same game with the same content, or do I have to buy SFC2 if I want to play SFC2? Or are they the same game, the latter with "more" content?
SFC2 and SFC:OP take place in the same era, but each can be played on their own, even though Orion Pirates is considered an expansion pack for Empires At War. Only differences between SFC2 and SFC:OP is that in SFC:OP, you can also play as one of the 8 pirate cartels and also you have X-era ships. Those ships don't show up in SFC2. My advice, just buy both SFC2 and SFC:OP, and play them separate and see which one you like better. These days if you can find a copy of either one it'll be dirt cheap.
op is just a ship mission an race add on nother rely diff u can downlaod a mod that will add the same
Thank you both for explaining it to me. question to Daihak... you said:

Granted that I could get either for like 10$ why should I buy SFC2 if every thing that's in it is also in SFC:OP? I mean, why spend 20$? does SFC2 have content not found in OP? are they not compatible in MP or something? Thanx again to both of you.
Yes there is alot more in sfc2. For starters LOTS of campaigns. OP only has a "Pirate Campaign" that is pretty darn short (about 4 hrs of work). If you play any other race in OP (fed klink rom etc), you can only play the "general campaign", which is exactly the same as playing sfc1 without joining the "starfleet special task force". Playing this way amounts to untold hours of blowing up pirates, or any other ships that wander into your area (gets kinda dull), and trying to get the new "Advanced ships" (X ships ie X-FF), which are nothing more than new ship designs (new hull designs), with "X Weapons", meaner versions of the standard weapons. Now some of the "regular ships" have been fitted with these new weapons, but not many (makes things more interesting). While all this brings about new play possibilities, playing on dynaverse (the new metaverse for you sfc1 vets) is much more interesting. I bought this game thiniking "ooooh I can be pirates! Cool!" But sadly your pirate days will be short with this game (due to the somewhat short pirate campaign). I know it sounds like i'm really hammering this game, and I am, but that's just because I felt kinda cheated. Don't get me wrong, this game is fantastic, really it is, once you get past it's shortcommings. Now to the hardest part... Finding the damn thing so you can buy it:rolleyes: Trust me I looked long and hard. Don't even try amazon, or, (I shudder to think) eBay, or you'll pay a pretty penny (lots more than the 10 bucks its worth right now). I got mine at cdaccess. Only 15 bucks. Pretty dang good. Oh and no "jewel case only" crap when you buy from them, you get the full retail package: the all important manual (trust me without this you won't make heads or tails of the new stuff), and, the pretty box it comes in. Pretty sweet:smokin: I didn't intend for this to become a complete review (more like a rant), but it did:rolleyes: So the final verdict is: get it. If you are looking to grab sfc2, it's much harder to find. You will definately have to brave ebay or amazon (beware amazon can REALLY rip you off). So anyway... buy the dang thing already:D Cya out there P.S. CDaccess has some other hard to find trek titles, so have a look.
it should only be only 20$ for boath sfc2 and sfc:op
FINE!.... I'll get both....;)
Ahhh King. You have learned well the ways of the dark side. Soon, you shall be fully embrased by our ways.
