Hi, I got the same error as many of you get: "A Serious error has occured...."
Just wondering, this error happens only in XP and Win2k? I managed to run C&C on an Win98 Laptop (works fine), but it won't work on my workstation since it's XP.
Can it be XP and Win2k the problem?
is it a big blue screen that shuts down window's and makes you reboot?
i see that Etherealsilk never had a serious error, it's a message when generals crashes
Yep, it's when C&C crashes
Hmmm, well I have had an error similar to this when playing some games, never with generals though. It would crash the game and flash to a blue screen telling me there has been a serious error and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to the computer. It says to try reinstalling any new hardware or software if the error repeats and then tells me to check for new drivers. Drives me nuts cuz I cant figure out what the hell is causing the problem. Oh well, eventually I'm gonna figure the damn thing out.
I didn't have any problems at all with generals until I applied the 1.5 patch. Now the serious errors come quite frequently.
However, I had people tell me the exact opposite. They had problems and crashes until they applied patch 1.5. Now they don't have any problems.
Who the hell knows.....
Some people say its and overheating problem. Thats a load of shit. My workstation barely breaks 40 degrees C (ambient internal temp). Some people have said that they contacted EA and were told that if you are using multiple strips of RAM that they need to matched pairs. That also is a load of shit. I only have one 512 strip of RAM and I get the serious error quite a bit.
Anyway, I hope a new patch is coming soon to take care of it....it's starting to piss me off really bad.
