Can anyone help?
System: AMD 2200, 512ddr ram Hercules 3D prophet 4500
I have installed C&C...I can pick solo mode, choose who I want to play but as soon as the map comes up it crashes with "A serious error has occured"
I have downloaded the latest driver for my graphics card and no joy.
Can anyone help?
I am starting to get this error more and more often myself and it is pissing me off. It seems alot of people get this problem, I hope they address it in the next patch.
i read in a patch document that the "serious error" i think it has something to do with the system overheating
My friends and I seem to be getting this error alot more lately. It always seems to happen to us about mid-way through a game. Usually its 2 or 3 people playing against 2 or 3 brutals when it happens. By the time we are mid-way through a game, we all have a bunch of shit built and we are just about to start walking through some bases to crush some brutals then....BAM....serious error and all three of us crash to the desktop.
Currently I'm running an AthlonXP 2200, GeForce4 Ti-4400, 512MB DDR. The other two people that I play with most of the time have systems that are equal or better than mine. I can see where overheating may be a problem, however, the ambient temp inside my case rarely breaks 40 degrees C. So I don't think overheating is a problem on my part.
But if anyone could give me some insight to this problem I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Overheating that is a bunch of BS at least on my computer I have no problems with any other games. It seems since 1.5 came out a few days ago I am crashing even more often, just last night my computer actually restarted. I read on Westwood that using different brands of memory could be a cause and therefore we should buy identical memory modules. I have 2 words... FCK THAT! What a lame excuse, I paid $50 to play this game not for excuses and reasons that I should change my computer to make it work. GRR
I couldn't agree more. When I first got Generals we played online quite a bit with no problems at all. The first patch....still no problems. After that though is a completely different story. Since the last patch I have experienced a lot of crashes and I agree that it is a bunch of BS that people to need to purchase additional stuff to get it to work.
What needs to happen is somebody needs to start working on not putting out piece of sht patches that screw sht up.
I am really mad about this EA crap. I had two memory chips, one with 256MB and another with 128 MB. I went against my better judgement and followed what EA said and removed the 128MB that was older so now I had only 256MB. But it didnt solve anything! I still get that stupid serious error message. This is ridiculous, I never had problems like this with C&C or any Red Alert games. Anyone know if there is gonna be a patch or something legitimate that EA will put out to fix this problem cause telling us to buy the same memory is the stupidest cop-out excuse I ever heard......................
well you guys are lucky, i get through the first video then kicked off to the desktop with that message, but actually getting to play the game, i haven't had any luck yet.
If it helps any, i'd like to say that i also have an Athlon 2400+ and get that same serious error message. I got it loads originally, then it stopped with the 1.04 patch but the 1.5 patch started it up again. Restarting my comp seems to occur more often too.
I'm thinking EA screwed this game up BIG time. Has anyone else thought that the game just does NOT deserve such high minimum specs? Sure it's "3D" but it ain't that good at all compared to the likes of splinter cell or something. :deal:
I have heard that C&C Generals is only a test for the new SAGE engine and we the consumers are the unfortunate test subjects. I swear this game steadily gets worse with each patch. Screw EA
