For anyone interested here are some of the things that fixed my serios error.

1. Before running the game Disable all services running when you push cntrl alt delete that have your name next to them except for the critical windows services.

2.Take off side of comp case and see if its a heat issue.

3. Disable L2 cache in bios

worked for me knock on wood.....

OK guys, (and gals)

Here's the issue. Once and for all. I have experienced this problem through five different machines. Two of them are mine, and the other three are my buddies' machines. We all run different hardware, and more importantly, different methods of procurement for the game.

One of my machines is running a copy of the original game and zero hour. Fuck any of you who give me crap about that. I have no intention of paying twice for a well concieved but poorly debugged game. The other machine is running the original store bought versions.

None of my friends bought the game. They all downloaded it from either ##### or WinMX. But we were ALL experiencing this problem.

We tried uninstalling zero hour. Then we tried uniinstalling both the original and zero hour. Then we tried reinstalling different video drivers. Then we tried reinstalling cd-rom drivers on the offchance it was a read error on the disks themselves. THEN we all disabled our various antivirus software like EA told us. THEN we tried switching around our memory like EA had told us. THEN we tried changing our monitor refresh rates to 75mhz like EA had told us.

WE DID ALL THIS SHIT ON FIVE MACHINES!!!!! NOT A GODDAMN THING WORKED!!!!! FUCKING EA!!!!!

I finally got sick of all this and threw my arm up in the air and waved my fist in the direction of EA's corporate home. Just FYI that didn't work either. I sat down and completely reimaged my machines. I backed up any files I needed to but I made sure not to save any game files. I then used my hard drive maintenance tools and wrote the entire drive to zeros. Started fresh. I installed XP and after the usual bullshit drivers I loaded up generals and zero hour. I played the game. It didn't crash. HOLY SHIT IT DIDN'T CRASH!!!! I started putting back all of the old files and still no crash.

All of my buddies followed suit, and I am happy to say we have enjoyed crash free multiplayer warfare ever since. NOw if only we had a few more eight player maps then it would be really cool.

I hope this helps. And if someone has gone through all this crap and reimaged their machine and it still crashes let me know. I'll shake my fist at EA again.

Hi You will haft to uninstall generals,a nd reinstall both Generals and zero hour, after that you shouls have no problems. If you don't like all the Intro of Zero hour try this fix I made. That is after you get it running.PS your sytem is probley the devil here you may haft to rinstall youe windows, someting is not correct in your registery.

Use the following instructions on doing away with all the intro logo and movies to General Zero Hour. This is my work around

FIRST A NOTE OF WARNING DO AT YOUR ON RISK" If you are not sure on what to do get a friend to help you or leave it alone.Good luck.

If you don't want to go through all the intro to start the game do the follow instruction.

#1.Use this command in the Target Line in generals zero hour Icon properties: "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour\generals.exe" -noshellmap

#2.Go to the main dir of Generals Zero Hour and open the data folder then open the "ENGLISH MOVIE FOLDER" and rename the following files in the folder.

EA_logo640.bik EA_logo.bik sizzle_review.bik sizzle_review640.bik

PS Here is and example of the way I rename all my files because it is easy to find. sizzle_review640.bik_old

"NOTE WARNING DO AT YOUR ON RISK" If you are not sure on on what to do get a friend to help you

Hi!I play about 4-5 hours per day.I have a Pentium 3 1Ghz with a Geforce4 MX440 Video card and 384 Mb of Memory. Also I overclocked my procecor at 1133 Mhz and my Video Card. I spend a hole partition 4 Gb for Virtual Memory(I have 2 HD 80 and 120 Gb).I play the CnC with medium graphic setting.

So far I had only 4 serious errors(I played 300 skirmish maps at least)and this seems to happen with only 2 maps(greece convention and another which I don't remember(8players).

Well,I think this happen because when you play with 2-3 opponents(I play with 3=GLA,USA,CHINA) a lot of staff will be build,a lot of infantry movements,Air Drone movements,Aircraft patrols, etc. So the game needs a huge memory usage :furious: .For me when the game start to write to the Virtual Memory the game slows down at least 25%(if i drop some nuke or biohazard weapons 50%).

The heat isn't a problem cause i have my cpu and gpu overclocked and the game war working allright(just in case I have a placed a huge :D fan at the side of my PC). I must reffer that i HADN'T installed ANY of the OFFICIAL PATCHES IN THE GAME.

    So Heavy metal rules!!!EA :moon: sucks.Hail to Westwood(R.I.P) and CnC(R.I.P).

The problem is in the game not your computers. My PC specs: (2)AMD4200+ processors, 1GB memory, 256MB video. Don't screw around with your computer's hardware because it won't fix anything. EA claims that overheated hardware or multiple brands of memory could be the problem however neither of these apply to me.

Second biggest bump I've ever seen. The biggest was a 6 year bump that was done for an admin contest to see who could make the best bump.

we have same problem. what kind of CnC game you are playing? Zero Hour Or Zero Hour reborn v5.0 the last stand. i have not incountered yet serious error while playing Zero hour Generals but when i installed the reborn V5.0 expansion i get serious error and my game crash the desktop. i have read the reborn v5.0 readme, that if you played the challenge mode the game will crash. because the challege mode is under construction. try to read the readme of that. that is why i am searching a solution for that to reconstruct.
