I didn't know whether to make a new thread about this or keep it in the ''What should be in SCF4 (It's been misspelled all this time has anyone noticed before?). Oh, well this is a topic that could uphold itself as its own thread. I say that they should make it around the era that the great Federation-Romulan war is in, since the next movie is going to be about that war. Or the temporal cold war that the Enterprise series almost completely about. What are y'all's opinions?
I've actually made a comment about this before in the other thread. My opinion is that they make it a multi-era game, that spans all eras of Trek. It can start from the TOS era, or even before, say Enterprise, and times goes on and moves from one era to another, with ships, technology, and all that good stuff evolving as time goes on. And you can pay a shipyard to give your ship a major overhaul to keep her more or less current so she can continue to fly alongside the newer girls in the fleet. The game should also have all of the major missions from the Star Trek timeline.
I definitely think that the temporal cold war would present alot of opened ended plots and RPG incorporated gameplay. Just like the prime directive has played an important role in every star trek series, I think in a PC game it would also be cool if your actions had direct effects on the present condition of the era you play in. This could leave an opening to introduce as well any of the star trek eras.
I think it should be similar to the game Cilvilzation; in which you advance through the ages. In SFCIV it would start with Kirk (screw Enterprise, it does nothing but screw up the storyline), and go all the way past Voyager's return.
I'd like to see it encompass all of trek and go beyond. Perhaps the Enterprise F (or whatever ship you end up flying) can explore more of the Gamma quadrant.
