A long, long while ago i was looking into finding out how to get a ship in Legacy to be able to fire when cloaked. I know a lot of people have tried to figure this out as well, but i have unfortuneately been away from the forums for awhile, and the last i knew no one had yet figured it out. So i was wondering if anyone has made any progress towards discovering how to get this to work ingame or not? If anyone has that would be awesome :bows:.
i tried and failed. lol. every theory i had pretty much failed when i tried making it.
Pretty much the same here. I thoroughly examined and tested a lot of .odf changes in ships, weapons, etc. and came up with nothing.
Dont waste your time, it doesn't work :)
thats why i stopped. lol.
Perhaps we're just going about this the wrong way...? Lets break this down to the essentials. What does it mean to be cloaked? It means that enemy's can't see you. Techincally, all you have to do it make an extra button, that replaces the Cloak funtion, that just turns off your ability to be seen by enemy sensors. You technically don't need to have the cloak effect on your ship when this happen, just render you invisible to enemy sensors. Perhaps script it so that by hitting the "Cloak" button, you could (scripting wise, not literally) activate the code that hides you in a Nebula...?
Just a thought.
It is possible to make an enemy ship fire on you, but you cant see them. I tried this in a mission script. If you 'DisableSensors' for your team, you cannot see the enemy, but you can see their weapons firing on you. However, for practical gameplay this isnt very good
Is it perhaps possible to make an effect that reduces your chance to be hit while at the same time triggering the optical effects of cloak on you? You'd still be targetable, but more difficult to hit.
