How can I manually activate the tractor beam in Skirmish mode? Can you use the Command menu to do this? Is there something I can do to a file in order to activate the tractor beam? If so, please tell me how I can assign that function a button, of my choosing, for activation. Secondly, my delima is also as follows: The instruction manual says that "G" is the key for the Command Menu. However, in-game, it is really "F." As of late, I have been able to bring up the command menu by pressing "F," but it doesn't work EVERY SINGLE TIME I PRESS "F!" I want to make the following changes: Changing the Command menu key from "F/G" to a button of my choice; I want the Command Menu to work EVERY SINGLE TIME that I press the BUTTON OF MY CHOICE; If possible, I would like to assign the TRACTOR BEAM function/COMMAND to an INDIVIDUAL BUTTON [HOT KEY] of MY CHOICE; Additionally, and finally, I want to do the same for the TRANSPORT function/COMMAND. - When I am trying to bring up the Command Menu, I am doing EXACTLY what I am supposed to do - mouse the crosshair/cursor over the ship/object/target and hold down "F." Yet, the Command Menu DOES NOT appear. 98.8% of the ???,???,???,???,???,??? times I have done this procedure, IT HAS NOT WORKED!
Any help that ANYONE can give me will be greatly appreciated - please answer every question in full detail -
i dont think you can change it.. its a case of getting lucky..
the tractor beam cant really be used in skrimish mode. i mean you can activate the command menu and select it, but all it'll do is either not show up at all on a enemy ship, or the shields will bounce off the beam an friendly ship. so the only bad part about that is you can only use it in single player mode...unless you had the UU Mod...
That is the one thing I forgot to mention. I do have the UU mod...What now?
ok usally when i play the bajor map, and there's an extra ship (namely the defiant, usually i wait till the shields are down and their crippled so i can tow them
..I remember you making a similar request several weeks ago in Legacyfiles, since your patricly still in the same dilemma....might I suggest you acquire a bit of scrypting knowledge yourself and learn to make the proper changes on your own. Your probably better off doing things this way rather than waiting any longer for someone else to do this for you. Here download this(legacyfiles)and study how Hellraiser made the changes to certain key functions(hope this helps)..........
Thank you for your assistance. Yes, I made this post on LegacyFiles. It was suggested that I take it to the forums. After making a Borg superweapon out of their colony ship on Armada 2, I'd like to think that I have a decent amount of knowledge of scripting and etc. - I never shared my weapon with the website lol. When I tried to change the keys myself, it resulted in having to use one of my back up directories and replacing the entire Legacy directory in order to play the game again - that is rediculous!:bawl: So, then I was keeping back ups of back ups and back ups of modded directories, and so on. So, in short, I was at a loss with how I was going to approach this rather annoying aspect of the game, as it seemed to have a mind of its own - I hope I'm not the only one to have experienced that. At this point, I will take any advice and opportunities that come my way. Thank you, once again, for your assistance - ALL OF YOU. :deal: - By the way, if anyone is looking for someone who can do a Picard impersonation and Borg voices, I'm available for recordings! lol:redx::borg::assimilate::dread::kerian::banghead::devil::KTA::coffee: :flag:
Legacy is based off of the engine that powers Armada 2. Tractor beams in Armada 2 need a ship to be disabled in order to tow it. Same as Legacy.
My suggestion is to look at the physics file of the tractor beam as see what parameters are set
