At least once I've sorted out a few things. Now before anyone posts I suggest that there is no comments such as "its a crappy armada port", or "it has no glow", because quite frankly I haven't got time for such crap from any whinny moaners (I get enough of that of my missus), so if anyone plans on this type of whinge then feel free to take it elsewhere.

Okay, so seeing as I've gotten that out of the way. This model pictured below is of Queball's fantastic USS Courageous, and whilst this is an Armada 1 port (no glow in the alpha channels of the textures as this is the only method I use for converting models), it is not suggested to even attempt to rename this back to SOD so its usable in either Armada game. The reason: Well lets say that this version is converted directly from the original BC NIF file and the model is over 10,400 polys. Textures are from the medium version (512*512) and there is 6 of them. The only slight alteration I had to do was to flip the registry sections of the textures over so they are reading the right way.

Now currently, this ship is way to overbalanced for the game so will require thorough testing before ANY release is made (for example, it can take out a neghvar with just a couple of shots and four klingon ships of any sort from TOS/TMP era are basically canon fodder). Its armament is substantial as it carries 4 heavy pulse phasers, 3 fore mounted quantum launchers and 2 rear quantum launchers (still need to check these), and complete 360 degree coverage from type XII phaser arrays. Its also got a cloak but this hasn't been checked. Only when I'm satisfied that this is fully bug free and reasonably well balanced will I even attempt a release. Oh and before I forget. This has been sanctioned (i.e I have permission) by Queball himself before I hear or read of anyone screaming "stolen model". Anyway, heres an ingame image (quality isn't the greatest but I really don't care to much as this is only a quick shot).

Well, Major Payne, i must say that this looks great and i have always been a fan of Queball's U.S.S. Courageous. It's good to see you take the time to port such a great ship and i couldnt care less if it didnt have "glows" or if it was an "Armada port" because quite frankly, it looks brilliant. Nice to see you made the ship logo aswell.

You have done an excellent job on this. Good luck on fixing the bugs and getting it working and i hope to see it in Legacy soon.:)

Quick update (and thanks for the props Gavin). INitial testing indicates all weapons are functioning as they should (including rear mounted/rear firing torpedos), so I just need to narrow the phaser beams a bit and also shrink the size of the torps (as they look far to big for the ship size, but that could jsut be me). In test two the dam thing took out two romulan warbirds, so I'll have to lower the strength of the ships weapons. Its supposed to be tough, but not THAT tough.

Be careful with the HP's. The HP's on Armada models are too far into the model so you don't see the start of the phaser and it actually fires from inside the model.

I tried moving the HP's but when I saved the model the game would no longer recognize it.

Oh damn! YES YES YES!! Pure awesomeness. Screw the lack of additional texture crap, I just want to beat some Borg in it... (did someoen say Defiant versus Courageous?)

Another update. Queballs Sabre (which I also got permission to convert) has been added. The mesh is around 5800 polys so the detail looks sweet. I'll be hunting down some other high quality meshes to do some conversions of. perhaps even my own TNG style Miranda might get converted as well.

You should port the Excalibur from BC files, thats very detailed also.:p

As i said, the Excalibur is a ship which may be a good idea for you. Im sure we will be seeing some great ports from you MaP.:)

Well funny you should say that Gavin. The excalibur is in game as is the Valiant. I've got about 11 more ships to do spread across 3 of the four races.

Great news about the conversions. Is there any future conversion planned for the Chandley class frigate? This is without a doubt my favorite ship in the star trek universe (FASA). Any input or information would be great!
