While pouring through the m3d folder in my Legacy install, I was encouraged to find an m3d file for the corbomite reflector weapon. So I decided to see if I can get this weapon to work for Legacy. I went to my armada 2 main directory and pulled out all the files required to make this weapon work. I found and extracted the wave file, the TGA file, and the ODF special weapon file for this weapon. After doing a bit of tweeking on the ODF file, I found that this weapon does not utilize the traditional sprite weapon inputs or is not required, either way I did not do anything to the weapon sprite file for Legacy. I then slapped the files to where I think they belong and ran the game, it's a no go..:bawl:....darn thing crashed on me. I thought maybe there was something wrong with the m3d file so I pulled out the one from my a2 install and converted it to m3d format with my milkshape and tried it again..still crashed . Is this weapon even possible for Legacy? After pouring through the files for like a good hour I found that the main reason why the game is crashing on me is because of the weapon's class label. When I experimented using the class label for the cloaking devise, the game ran but the weapon is being read as the actual cloaking devise and not the corbomite reflector. Can anyone please help me brush up on the inner-workings of the weapon class labels? Where is the file where the class labels are located? Anyone please any help, insights, thoughts would be very very appreciated.

Well the Akira Chain Pulse weapon works me thinks, I'll have a look at it and see what the story with is, not promising anything

Thanks IKS. I tried using the other weapon class labels but the only one that shows up when I press the R key is the cloaking devise :Puzzled:. My gut tells me I might need to write a completely new class label for this weapon since the reflectweapon class label don't seem to work for Legacy.....

They are encoded into the legacy.exe file. If you look at it with a hex editor you can do text searches for "known" weapon class names. If you can't find the classname that it used to use then it's no longer valid. 90+% of the special weapon functions from Armada are gone from legacy. Why they removed them? I don't have a clue, I mean what would it have saved them? but they did it anyway.

I spent a good bit of time looking over the special weapons and came to the conclusion that they weren't going to ever work (or work properly) again. The ChainPulse does "work" but it no longer has a method to Limit it's use..

Thanks allot Muldrf. In that case I think I'll quit now while I'm ahead before I spend anymore time and effort(banging my head againts the monitor)on a hopeless cause. Man!..that would've been nice though to have refractive shielding, but if a man of your expertise can't do much about it I seriously doubt I'd have any more chance in squat of figuring this out. I think this is a kind of Legacy mod that belongs in the distant future. :smokin:
