i'm getting into modding im just looking for a bit of software that will allow me to build a basic (but detailed) 3d image. is there any such software if so what is it called. thanks to anyone who can help.
Well since your getting into modding and your looking to create detailed 3d images then I recommend you just get this already. That way, should you decide one day to model in-game units(ships, starbases, etc.), you would already have the best program around for modeling. ;)
And if you want something that's easy and free try this.
brilliant thanks for your advise guys, ever since i started playing mods i've just wanted to ad my own variation of the defiant, so i'm gonna get straight on it. but any advise that anyone has is definately more than welcom lol i think i have a long way to go yet.
You will actually need two applications: (1) Some type of 3D modeling software package which will allow you to make the model and (2) a graphics package which will allow you ro create the texture for it. Well, unless you have some experience doing #D modeling I would recommend that you begin with something a little simplier than a starship. Try basic shapes and the like first. Find a good tutorial or two and understand the mechanics and limitations of the software. Good luck!
i've started using 3Dvia shape its really simple to use, but it doesnt deal with much fine detail, well actually it doesnt deal with any real detail other than the shape, so what i was wondering if would be possible to build my model in 3Dvia and then define it with CS3?
