Can anyone tell me the exact era dates for the game? I found some of them in the xmls, but someone said those were not accurate, is that true?

All I can tell you is that the campaign missions are dated as follows:

Enterprise Era Missions - 2154 to 2158 Tos Era Missions - 2270 to 2290 TNG Era - 2333 to 2380

Does this help at all?

If you can dig up the last forum thread on this subject I posted the dates that the Skirmish/Multiplayer Fleet Selection Menu actually uses. The xml entries are apparently just a comment/guideline that the developers used, the menu doesn't apparently operate off of them, my other theory on them is they are intended to be used as a "display" of some sort on the interface and aren't actually used.

I don't know them off the top of my head, and i don't have them at the office here to look up but I did post them on that last thread which I believe was around here somewhere.

after the filefront revamp, the "Era Overhaul" forum disappeared? nevertheless, i believe the dates for the game are...

ENT 2151 - 2200 TOS 2200 - 2300 TNG 2300 - 2400

ENT and TOS era "end dates" may differ by a year or two. however, after a week, i figured these dates are closer to what legacy actually runs. all my ships seem to line-up within their correct era using this formula.

The dates referenced in the xml file are just a sort field. They are just numbers. Nothing more, nothing less. It aint no voodoo shit either. The stuff inside these bits <> is the important bit. They are accurate for Skirmish use. If you want them canon then dont even bother. You can for a campaign environment but not Skirmish/MP

Merge with above if someone can.

Just thought of something different just then, might be off topic but it does have some relevance to your era dates.

There is a distinct possibility of adding new era's to Legacy. I just thought of it then. Possible to add new era's by following similar practices the odf file structure uses and the way how Legacy reads its files. Heavy use of template and override code plus removal of code from certain sections of the xml file.

Massive amount of xml work.

I used the settings from the Xml, but then I also get TOS ships in ENT, etc. so it must be something else. I guess I will just have to do it the trial and error way and change the dates of a ship until it appears in another era. Yet, thanks for your help guys.

If all versions of Legacy would be using the same dates, the UUTools, LMTools, and ModInstaller all use these dates to define their Era Filters:

ENT: End Date > 2099 Start Date < 2202 TOS: End Date > 2201 Start Date < 2277 TMP: End Date > 2276 Start Date < 2302 TOS/TMP: End Date > 2201 Start Date < 2302 TNG: End Date > 2301Start Date < 2402 All Eras: End Date >2099 Start Date < 2401

Note the overlap year in there.

They line up with the ship displays in UU Skirmish as far as I could tell. Start Year has to be less than the End Year as well ofcourse.
