i have been privately modding my legacy and just about all the tricks there are. although, i keep running into a problem which may sound a bit stupid. i don't know how to add nacelle glows to a non legacy ship model. i know that guys who made the nimitz class, long island class, devil ray, etc. figured this out, if that helps. if someone can help me figure this out it would help me along.:uhoh: :confused: specifically i have imported (w/ms3d) the BC versions of the Renaissance, Renaissance MKII, and Apollo classes which all run off the same textures. they're outfitted with hardpoints and hud ship logos, using the ambassador logo for both ren's and i CUSTOM made the hud logo for the apollo. they're both very nice and well up to legacy quality. i hope to eventually get them to be like the legacy stock ships. also, if somone knows how to make/add custom reg logos to ships not from legacy that would be cool.:cool: if you want to see some screens you can go to my myspace at: www.myspace.com/headbangertommy go and view my pics, they are 4 pictures in the 'Legacy Screens' photo album. you can contact me however you want, or reply to ths thread. i'll try to check back here soon, might not be for a few days. thanx:agreed -tommy
ok, sorry everybody. i'm new so i didn't get the chance to look through some of the other threads before i posted this. anyway i think the answer i was looking for is all layed out in another thread posted by gdata a while ago called Specmaps + Bumpmaps. :ditto: if anyone else has this poblem i refer you to this thread. and if you don't really feel like finding and reading through it--> basically, you use the ms3d .M3D exporter version V0.85b (downloadable here on filefront) to add extentensions or what-not ;r(as layed out in the exporters read me file) to the textures. to learn more read gdata's thread and the read me of the exporter. =ptommy:borg:
Hi Tommy. Firstly, welcome to the forums. Secondly, I have an easy way for you to add spec glows, rather spartan way but easy nonetheless....However, instead of lobbing it all down here I will make a small tutorial with screenshots on how to do this and post the link here or else throw it up on Legacy Files. One thing though, if you can send me one of your ships that has no glows then I can demonstrate it for you....I do also hope you will be releasing these to the community here on Legacy Files? SFC3 ships are cool :)
i'll try to see if i can get one of the ships uploaded on a friends site altough i'm having another problem involving the ms3d M3D expoter. i downloaded it and installed it but it's not showing up in the export menu can you maybe help with this too. thanx tommy
alright i uploaded it on my friend's site: rworriscentral.mine.nu click on 'Pending" it's a .zip file called 'Renaissance class' it contains: F_Renaissance.ms3d F_Renaissance.M3D F_Renaissance.odf fca1.tga fca2.tga fca3.tga fca4.tga fca4_glow.dds i made glow/spec/bump textures for fca4 (b\c it is the nacelle texture), but i only included the _glow if it helps, sorry about that. also i put the screenshots there as well (they are Screen1 ,2, 3, & 4) in 'Pending' at rworriscentral.mine.nu for anyone who wants to view them my comments on screenshots- - yes, before you ask that is a Freedom class, it only is damaged because i had to escape an attack by the Borg to get a good shot of all the ships - and i have plenty other good ported BC/SFCIII ships too (Niagara class, New Orleans class, Challenger class) - i just showed the Freedom there because it took me forever to get a good Freedom class, and it was also the first ship i ported and i just wanted to show it off. i can put some screens up fort hose other classes only if anyone really wants to see them. tommy

[basically the Cayan w/o the sensor pod]) classes into the picture - oops oh yeah, and those 'other' ships i think they are all A2 ports except the Super Star Destroyer (in front of the moon, wait that's no moon!) and the Ebon Hawk (between the Republic Hammerhead Cruiser and the Ravager) the death star is a ship, but is annoying to pilot because it rotates by itself. tommy

actually most came from Bridge Commander, and, some like the excelsiors, came from sfcIII. i've have fixed the texture problem on the Apollo, but i don't know exactly how to get the registry logo to work, i know i have to make a group with the mesh stlogo in milkshape then assign the coordinates of the mesh, but how exactly do i do it cause i seem to be having trouble.
