So I installed Aftermath 1.7 on a fully patched install of STL. The opening screen for the Aftermath shows up but there are no new menu items to choose from. Is there an installer for mods? This seemed to install itself from the self-extracting file. This is my first STL mod. Their readme gives no specific installation instructions. Thanks.

The installer should have pointed straight to the STL directory. When you say there are no menu items to choose from could you be a little more specific. The Aftermath menu is different than the stock Legacy menu. Reinstall the Aftermath 1.7 exe and make sure when it gets to the file path make sure its pointing to the Star Trek Legacy Folder. It installs over Legacy just like the patches. I will keep an eye on this topic if you need any more help.

The same happened to me too...I think the problem could be done to the installer just installing the files to the bethesda folder and not the actual Star Trek Legacy Folder.

What you need to do is go to the Bethesda Softworks folder in your program files. In the Bethesda Folder you should see all the subfolders like "odf", "m3d" .....etc move every item into the Star Trek Legacy root folder and click yes to overwrite when prompted.. That should do the trick.

I ran the installer again and very carefully ensured it chose the correct directory. It appears there are new folders there now. However, I get no new interface. I do see a brief movie with the Aftermath title but then I see the same old vanilla menu. Any other ideas? I may try a clean install. I think long ago I put in a mod to allow for arbitrary saved games but I don't remember.

A clean install would be best. We do one after every public release to make sure the files are working. IKS I think that may have been the preview copy that does that. The installer was set to only go as far as Bethesda Softworks at that point. If you need help or want to report a bug feel free to on the this forum, Legacy Files site, Aftermath's site, or the Bethsoft forums. Thank you for downloading STL: The Aftermath.

Clean install fixed it. I seem to have triggered a bug in the Khan mission. After I disabled him, I decided to tractor his ship. This may have caused the bug. After that, nothing would happen. My next objective was to get out of system by going to the bottom of the map. After I got down there on impulse, nothing happened. I'll try it again without tractoring him. But otherwise the mod is working fine after a clean install.

Tractoring him wasn't in the plan, but thats a bug I am not even sure how to fix. The cinematics in that one need some refinement. For 1.9 I have wanted to add some refinements and changes to the current missions roster, also Ultimate Computer has a glitch I have a fix for it but you will have to reply at http://www.outpostraders.com since no patch is being issued. You have to have all the ships down at the same time, and they autorepair.
