there is an importer for m3d files that ive made, but i decided it was pointless becuase 1, it cant do everything it needs to do, and 2 ppl would import models that ware working fine and potentially mess them up because of 1. now im sure even if we get official tools that there will not be an importer, so i might work on fixing it then.....
as for the sod importer to milkshape, ive made on that works alot better then the one most ppl are used to. no material duplications and better import routines, best of all, no limitations on import. however due to careful consideration of various armada 1 and 2 file authors i have not released it as of yet except for in the UU modding team for porting from 3dsmax to sod to milkshape to m3d (this is the process i currently use).
i havnt had alot of feedback on the m3d exporter, but the one here is now very obsolete. there is a current version at http://www.chrisjonesgaming.net/moonraker/M3d_Exporter.rar if anyone is still interested. i understand that some cant get it to work, its probably becuase of version issues or something, just place the dll in the milkshape dir and be sure to be using milkshape 1.7.10 or later. there are possibilities of it working with earlier versions, the thing to look for is the 'comments button' in milkshape. if you dont see that, it probably wont work. ive made use of the comments feature to retrieve special node infos like blinker light timing and color, so thats a definite must-have.
Sorry, but I have 1.7.10 and the exporter doesn't show up!
mine isn't appearing either. we need help please! tommy >-
i dont know what to do to help you, just make sure you are all up to date and put the files in the milkshape install directory.
I know! Install NET Framework 2.0 or 3.0!
ive been told that helped some, so yes try it. i didnt have net updated when i made the plugin, but some say its still required. its not the plugin far as i know. so it must be some other setting on some machines needing it. its really worth a shot.
