I'm new and I was wondering what these files are exactly and how they pertain to different ships and such?

Thanks for the info. Now for my next question. Is it possible to copy and rename the odf of a stronger ship to give a weaker ship more kick?

Just click on the odf file, open with, notepad and you'll see whats inside an odf file. alot of it is self explanitory.
