hey all!

well i went off and decided to modify some menu screens. nothing really to gloat about, just some scripting changes, graphics will have to come later. all is going pretty well, except the "fleet construction" menu.

the issue is the "fleet browse" and "upgrade system" buttons. it's a little annoying that when the mouse accidentally runs across it, the screens pop-up without a click of the mouse. how can this be remedied?

i've exhausted every attempt to get it to work through the fleetconstruction.xml file. either i'm missing some code or there is another file that needs modding. whatever the case may be... help please.

thanks, trekster

Looks like your using the Community version of the upgrade system. I never released the fixed version of that, I gave that to the mod teams instead that asked to use the system.

Its a simple fix to do. Take out Enter/Exit code and put in Click code and problem solved.

riddle me this... riddle me that?

still on the fleetconstruction.xml file... my fleets are turning out to be mouse killerz. i'm curious as to how difficult it would be to script a "class" selection at the begining? meaning, a pop-up class panel with a scroll text listing selectable by clicking. then, have the selected classification appear to be commissioned into your fleet.

i have a general idea of how to build the panel, button, etc. as far as making it interactive... basic pointers are good, tutorials... if there are any, even better!

thanks all!

Tutorials-non existent. I threw my XML/Interface tutorial out the window, couldnt be stuffed and honestly dont want to make tutorials anymore. Waste of time. I would rather teach one on one...

As for your request in placing sort fields into the ship select screen... Possible yes. Hard very yes... Drop down select, I personally wouldnt as you would be here till your 50 coding it as each ship would need to be coded into the interface. Legacy has around 90ships stock... With a drop down list, you have to prepare for everything...

Instead a sort filter via buttons is a more achievable outcome. Legacy is capable of class sorting and can be done in very similar fashion to the upgrade system. Custom classes however would throw any sort field out the window.

If one was to do a sort field, better planning would need to be done beforehand. Depending on level of class customization, sacrifices would need to be made to pave way for sort fields.

yeah, something similar to the upgrade system... but tie it into the fleet browse. for instance, to choose your ships; 1) click the "fleet browse" then the panel pops up to select a class category; scout destroyer cruiser battleship 2) select your class then, every ship under that class appears, spinning, as normal to select into you fleet. 3) if someone wants a different class, repeat the above steps until your fleet is full.

to me for example, it makes no sense to flip through every ship to get to the enterprise-e. i did, however, make a second sort by "showclass" method to add era and sub-classes i.e., "tng-late heavy cruiser". the main sort is still by the 4 original classes.

that's all i got so far. if you don't mind and feel this is a worth while endeavor, i certainly would appreciate the assistance.
