Hey, folx. I'm new to this modding thing, but, I'm kinda teaching myself how to do stuff. When I go into the ODF file to edit a ship's stats. it won't let me save any changes. The thing comes up under note pad, but this is the message I get when I click "Save"... It says..."Cannot create the C:\Program files\Bethesda Softworks\Star Trek Legacy\odf\ships\F_Nova_waverider.odf file" What do you think the problem can be. If you have any suggestions, please email me at BSNAPPLE@HOTMAIL.COM

right click on the file and select properties..then make sure the "read only" check box is unticked.

And you need to delete the file db.pak in your game directory (unless you have a total conversion like Aftermath, The Legendary Generations Mod, Ultimate Universe, Trek Battles or Keys Of Legacy+ installed); otherwise it won't recognize the changes made to the file.

Thanx for the reply. "Read Only" is already unchecked. What else could be the problem? Also, are you in the US?

Hm...strange. Are you editing the file with notepad? I remember having had these issues with Armada 2 odf, when 'Read Only' was checked, but as you said it's unchecked. That's strange...

And no, IKS is from Ireland and I am from Germany.

I'm not sure what the db.pak file is. As I said...I'm not exactly computer savvy, lol. But, whenever I double click on a ship in the odf file, it automatically comes up under notepad. I have Trek Battles 2. Do either one of you guys have yahoo or msn messenger?

I do but I am so busy that I am unable to have a conversation with anyone at the moment..

GO into the legacy root folder (C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Star Trek Legacy) look for the db.pak in the there and delete it. Then that should be it :nodding:

The db.pak is the backup file for odf's...since its a new file nothings wrong with db.pak.

Have you tried WordPad? Or saving it to a different directory then copying/pasting?

you cant overwite stuff straight into legacy's directory as its not indexed. you have to give your permissions if your using vista. i recommend saving it into 'my documents' and then copying the file over in explorer

Deleting the db.pak when he has TB2 is pretty useless, since it will be regernerated, which is - of course - good. So you do not need to delete it; just try to save your odf.

Really? Never had any problems with saving files to the Legacy Directory on WinVista Ultimate.
