How do you add NEW sound groups to Legacy. When I try, it CTD's

is that the format and in sound groups do you mean weapons voices etc
Mostly Weapons, Phasers to be more specific. I have a bunch of weapon sounds and loops I would like to add but can't get them to work. And before anyone asks yes I made sure to have the odf's ask for the right sound groups. I copied and renamed the lvl3 phaser file and made sure that it used the new sound group and the new loop too, but it just CTD's
You must add them to the sound db .csv file I forget the filename and folder offhand. but it's one of only a handful of .csv files in Legacy. All the Weapon sound groups are referenced in one of them. If you aren't sure which of the csvs you can look at an existing weapon and find it's soundgroup and you will know you have the right file. .csv files can be edited with something like notepad but are better formatted in Excel (or other spreadsheet software).

np. Glad you found it with the vague references I could give you at the time. I figure I'll give a little better info if someone finds this thread for Reference someday. The files are in the \DB folder. The two files in question are dbsound.csv and dbsoundgroups.csv the first one you add a "reference name" and the the actual .wav filename along with some other variables. the second one you actually put in the new "Soundgroup name" in and use the "reference name" that you enterd into the dbsound.csv for your .wav file. I believe if you add additonal "sounds" to the group it will alternate between them on each use of that soundgroup. For weapons I don't think you would alternate the sound of though, but that's more for "Captains" stuff.
To get it to alternate the sound you do need to add more than one .wav sound file to the group you are adding, it doesn't change the sounds it just alternates between the selected files in the sound group. It also allows you to turn up or turn down the .wav that you added to balance it with the other sounds in the game.
