Okay, so it appears I have to change my policy completely on the porting of models which I create to Legacy. Now, I'm also sure that people dont' want to see me leaving this game completely out of the loop (heaven knows. Its a good possibility that I might port a few anyway when a proper, working exporter has been created), but it seems people are just beginning to port them without first thinking about where the originals come from.

To start with at this present moment, I've seen one ship and a ship pack released with materials done by me, with incorrect credits. The Excalibur I let go, because this was a simple misunderstanding on the modders part and I accept that. However, this next pack I will not let go simply because it goes further than just simple porting of models. So where to begin??

Well I'm of the mind I've said that whilst I don't look for personal credit (although its nice to know where these ships I create go to), I do not create my own textures, and therefore I expect to see credit to the people who are responsible for these. As a result of this I'm seeking to have *Federation* mod removed until this is sorted out. Further to this, and on a far more serious note, who can put their hand up and remember a former member called "Dragon Master", who basically defaced my Premonition model (originally created by Queball for BC/SFC) and released it as a so called "Enterprise Z". Those who were present at the time will remember that Queball was furious to find out how bad the resulting model was. Steps were taken to have this release removed. Now I see this mod also contains that same ship model and as far as I'm concerned this is totally unnacceptable.

In light of this I am changing my policy for porting to the following:

1) I will be requiring permission for ANYTHING that I've created or released if it is to be publically released for Legacy. Failure to adhere to this will result in my having said released removed from the site. 2) If another party (such as Porty for example) has made a release (which I would have been aware of), porters are required to contact him directly to find out who the original creator was incase further crediting is necessary.

I'm not taking any more excuses in future. I must be going soft in my old age and therefore I won't tollerate this any further, and trust me when I say, I will be constantly checking for any disregard. Also if it happens to many times then I'll be forced to take stronger measures (this may or may not include the removal of ALL materials that I've released and I'll be banning any further mods from using ANYTHING I've made, or used).

Okay so this may sound like I'm being pigheaded over something which some may think is trivial, and if that is the case then so be it, but I'm sick to the back teeth of people not listening and following a simple request.

What is the best way to contact you because I have emailed you twice.

Is it possible to get permission to create new textures and modify the HP's or whatever is required to get the ship fully working in Legacy.

Also, I hope that modders who go about things the right way don't get punished because of complete morons. By that I mean you remove permission for anyone to use your material.

Thanks.

1) MaP, I've removed the link from your post for the reason being that by having a direct link, people can still access the mod. In the "hidden" mode, I have it so that I can get details so on a future-version, I can simply copy the details (saves a good bit of time). I'm sure you won't take any offence to this, I just wanted you to know why it was changed. 2) Gandalf, right, in terms of seperate models, if you wanted to release that seperately, I suggest you just find the release on Armada2Files and get all the details from there (download the mod if you have to, forutneately they're not big files). http://armada2.filefront.com/file/SoulWolf_Class;45159 is the link ;) Just make sure you give credit to everybody who is in that readme, eg. if the textures weren't Terra's, then the credits for that person would be needed etc. Alternatively, credit the original design (I think that's on BCFiles somewhere) and then Terra for the Armada 2 convert which you're using. If it's to be kept personally on your PC, ignore the above :p If you have any further questions, please contact me.

Guys Major is right. All this has been explained in http://legacy.filefront.com/info/Permissions yet very few seem to take notice of it, shame really :o
