The cake is a lie. There is no cake.

We know, that from the developers, modding Legacy will be easier to those with Armada 2 modding knowledge. We're told,
They're not the same, Legacy is more advanced, but there is a kinship
What exactly does this mean? Could it be the files set-up is similar? THe coding will be the same? The structure of the game will be similar, what exactly? Discuss!
Perhaps they are using similar file formats and structures. For example A2 used .odfs to store ship data etc making it extreamly easy to change.
Okay.. I thought I'd never do this. .but here goes.. I've finally joined the forums.. This is a big step for me given my bizarre phobia of Forums (just too much going on in one page) so I gave in and decided since Legacy is now on Filefront I might aswell get used to sifting thru countless comments on forums... As for the topic at hand, I really do hope it's easy to append mods to this game..
I do also, I cant see that many being made though. If you look at any space based Trek game the majority of the mods are Federation ships. This game is going to have every Federation ship as stock (so the devs said).
Well then I guess modders will have to make new ones.. I would love to see the Dawnstar made for this... However the level of anticipation is absolutely massive for this game, therefore mods will at some point in the future be popping up everywhere ONCE!! the game is easy to append to and modding is not impossible which I am led to believe by many is the case for Legacy
That is somthing I had not considered. There are tons of fan designed ships... but Rick Knox is working with Bethesda so I wouldnt be surprised if some are in there anyway.
ive heard they use ODF files!
Who knows, be nice if they do, I learnt all that years ago. Nice and easy.
To be honest it all could be re-done, the mesh, the hardpoint files, if theres torpedo amounts etc then its alot of change to normal armada modding etc.
they are going to use odf files, i heard it i think on the podcast...
