I would love to see a combat rebalance mod for legacy. I'll elaborate -Shields- Shields should be 100% protective, unless they are down. The ship should take absolutely no damage if the shields are up,after all, thats what they are for. When the ship is hit by ANY weapon at all when its shields are down, it should leave a mark. I've seen ships get destroyed with barely a scratch on them, yet the health indicators show they should be missing nacceles or something drastic like that. More damage, more battle scars, when appropriate, is what I'm saying.

Incorrect. If you've watched ANY combat sequence in the films or the series you'll find that the ships take damage whether there shields are up or down. The only thing thats not quite right is the scaring effects. Even so the ships internal systems do take damage, for example. In "The Undiscovered Country" the first torpedo from Changs BOP caused immediate internal damage to the Excelsior and tilted the ship of its axis.. The Enterprise itself took around 6 hits while its shields were up and took both internal and external damage.

the combat sequences in star trek 1-6 were very different from those in later films. Until that time, "shields" were not really a visible phenomenon. IN TNG, as shields became visible, no hull damage occured when shields were up. It was always internal and overall stresses on ther ship because of the drain on the shields. I've never seen a ship take real damage with it's shields up in TNG, DS9, VOY, or any later movies. Legacy uses the later shield system for TOS and TMP era ships, therefore it is logical to conclude that they would have the same effects.

ummm i don't think your watching the same shows.....for EX Yesterday's Enterprise.... the Enterprise D took major damage and have a fire on the freakin bridge and the shields where still up. After the fire the shields took one final hit and failed....there was even a WARP CORE breach going on..and the shields where still up....the only thing that will not happen when the shields up are is a hull breach. But the hull can still take damage....again Yesterday's Enterprise....shields where still up, but they had took damage to the secondary hull. Oh here is another good one Nemesis, Enterprise E shields are up......ONE shot the first shot from the Scimitar took out the Enterprise's warp drive.

Watch the episode more closely. The Enterprise had been under heavy attack from Klingon forces on an almost weekly basis.

But when shields are weakened stuff can pass through, so how about a balance between blocking and not? Like if a torpedo hits the shields and they're at 60 percent, they should penetrate. Phasers however should only penetrate at 30 percent.

I would like to see the shields being more like a damage modifier than a true "shield". somewhere i read how shields are working in theory. they use particles to spread out the concentrated weapon beams and pulses thus reducing the damage to a very small amount. the more hits the shields take the less particles are present to spread the beams. so a phaser should already penetrate at lets say 95% but the hull damage is nearly zero
