Ok, I know that in real life (well, real Trek) when you go to warp, unlike how it is in Legacy. So I suggest something, simular to the way it is in Bridge Commander with the Speed 9+. Make it so that "full impulse" would be the speed of normal warp flight, "1/2" would be more like 1/8th, and "1/4" would be more like 1/16. That way, you would be able to turn at warp speeds. Also, make it so that you can't get to full impulse with the mouse wheel, only when you hit Backspace (or rebind full impulse to Q).

What do you think, can/should it be done?

If I remember correctly full impulse is one fourth c, but don't quote me on that. But maybe we can try to balance this better...

I thought starships couldn't turn at warp speeds?

Wanted to say the same ...me thought so, too.

They can't turn at warp in-game, which is what I'm trying to change. I know that they can in the show. How else would you have a ship slingshot around a star, or do evasive maneuvers at warp, or any form of course correction?

course correction? well maybe that could be done by following a very long curve, but 'sharp' turns, and evasive meneuvre at warp speed? I thought ships are figting at sub-speed, propelled by impulse engines.

Using the Stars gravitational pull me thinks. I am not so sure about turning during warp, but somehow I have this feeling that it was mentioned before that ships cannot literally turn or fire during warp but I think I could be wrong..(though Shinzon's predator could fire in warp but that ship was ridiculously overdone for dramatic effect).. Someone has to know the definite answer

That's right...also, he could fire while the ship was cloaked, and it's again some other principles aswell, as i can recall it...;) btw a commercial local channel aired Nemesis just yesterday, and it wasn't that bad for seeing it 2nd time...

I could be wrong, but I think that a borg ship fired on the Enterprise at warp, a couple times. And I know it would have to be VERY long curves in order to turn, but I just hate being in command of my ship and having to just wing it when getting to where I need to go at warp, I want to be able to make small adjustments mid-flight.

If anyone knows how to changes ship speeds, we could do some testing. Contact me through my aim, msn, or yahoo to get on the idea. aim: johnnymuffintop yahoo: johnny_muffintop msn: johnnymuffintop@gmail.com

Remember "Elaan of Troyius?" The Big E was ordered to "pivot at warp 2, and bring all tubes to bear" to fire her photon torpedoes at her Klingon aggressor once they got their little dilithium issue fixed. "Balance of Terror" - Enterprise was accelerating to, and maintaining maximum warp when it was laying down several of its proximity phaser bombardments of the Romulan flagship. Also, Kirk had to order emergency warp speed astern to outrun a dissipating plasma torpedo from that ship. Ships in the Trek universe do, indeed (at least, on the show) fire at warp. In this case, I'd imagine that a photon torpedo casing might have enough independent flight capability to be warp-accelerated to its target and maintain its warp bubble long enough to attain impact on said target. More than likely, it's not been that way in space combat sim games in Trek because using warp has always been the potential "wow factor" for escape or catching up with a target. I can still remember the number of times I'd play Starfleet Command and SC II and just doze off because there was so much ground to cover at impulse speed.
