I have a big issue here. I have ds9, the new races mod, and some new ships mods. I want to put them in but I am not sure I know how. For example, I have the ds9 and it says to put its things in the odf and then the ships file. It does not work. The same for the new races mod. So, could someone PLEASE help me? I would really appreciate ANY help. Thank you everyone.:bawl:

Long ago were the days where modders would just give you a bunch of files with their file extensions and you'd have to find their correct places. These days modders have compressed their mods and in that compressed file (for example a .zip file) there will be a number of folders. Typically a legacy ship from say Legacy files will have the following folders in the compressed file: ODF Folder M3D Folder Textures Folder If you look in your root legacy directory you will find that there are matching folders, so all you've got to do is drag the files out of the compressed folder and drop them into the legacy folder. Windows will ask you if you want to overwrite the folder already present in the legacy Directory, say yes to all otherwise your mod which you have downloaded will not appear in-game as it has no files! If the modder has not been kind enough to include folders for the intended destination of the file, the usual locations for the usual files are as follows: Files with the extension of .odf -> legacyroot\odf folder (in the odf folder you choose weapon, ship or station! They are the usual places you will need. If the mod does specify a directory other than this for an odf file, check out the names of the other folders in the odf directory!) Files with the extension of .MD3 -> legacyroot\MD3 folder Files with the extension of .dds -> legacyroot\textures\DDS folder They are the common ones you'll find in a compressed folder. Should your mod have different files which need different locations please tell us what these files are! You mentioned the New Races mod by Cugi, he's been kind enough to put all files into folders so all you've got to do is drag everything from the compressed file and drop it into the Legacy root folder and say yes to each overwrite message! I hope this helps, Thanks.

I just tried it but for some reason the new species DID NOT appear in the skirmish screen. I have not downloaded any ships for the new races so I don't know if that may be a problem or not. Any idea what went wrong?

Cugi's New Races mod is just to allow you to use new ships, think of it like a framework, you've got to add the ships. Some new ships say they require this, for example the 'Empire Generations 1.1' ship pack. Let me know if this doesn't answer your question!

Have you deleted the file db.pak in the Legacy directory?

Well, you are saying that after putting in the new races, that I simply put in the ships for that race and then the race will become available for the skirmish mode?

Not really! The race(s) should show up even without these ships! Are you sure you put every file in the right folder???

Well yeah. There is actually one place to put stuff and that is the odf/others area.
