I didn't even know that games used sprites anymore... then again i'm still thinking of roleplaying games like Pokemon on gameboy... but... w/e... if you do a little digging i'm sure you can find a program to edit it... just be creative in your searches...

I've done some research on the .SPR files (located in the sprites folder) and, if I'm correct, they're the same file type used for the old Star Trek Armada game. However, I can't find an editor that will let me change these... any that y'all may know of?

There is no .spr editor. You've gotta open word/note pad/etc. and change it yourself. It's good as you don't need any specific tools, but bad because you can end up doing silly and difficult to find mistakes.
