I just wondered whether the community would like to see a third version of Trek Battles...

There should be another option to choose. "No untill major changes to the Legacy Game code will be made" I would vote for that.

Yes, but I fear that's not possible. But I talked to tjoz and gamemaster recently and they said there are a lot more things possible than we think at the moment. We'll see...

TB3 sounds very good. If it happens, can I join the team?

Gdata, to build a Trek Battles 3, to be honest would be one hell of a mission. Firstly, theres UU Stage 2. That looks very good. VERY GOOD. So theres competition. Also, theres the matter of areas to improve. Trek Battles needs more missions, ships, and modes. You need to make the game much more responsive. Selecting Ships is a pain in the ass because they take so long to load. You could introduce the first giant system where you can add ships into the map to assist. Distress Signals, if you like! You were able to use STL Manager to add ships to a missionso you could, perhaps use it to make it add ships whilst playing. Many other types of scripting could be introduced. think about it. A galaxy which loses the engineering section as a break node. The ability to warp and not stop. As a UK TV advert once said - "Possibilities are endless"

We have some ideas and concepts....and yes, missions and maps would be a main element of the mod. And I think I would also include a modified STL manager...

Competition is good for everyone, more options available.

But seriously, there are many things you can do with Legacy. Legacy is about as open as Paris Hilton, if not even more open... We have everything at our disposal even though majority of the state of the stuff is a mess.

You could clean up areas of Legacy, the results do speak for themselves. You could do something that Maddoc didnt have the time to do-optimise Legacy for the PC. There is plenty you can do.

As for adding ships, personally I wouldnt. You got more than enough ships in TB2. If you still want a basis in the ship department, look at ways of improving them whether that be through textures, modeling techniques or try pushing them as far as you can. At times, re-inventing the wheel is more beneficial.

Missions is something new for everyone so explore this area more. Though look at breaking away from the Historical Missions route, honestly its been done to death. Some havent been done and others have just about been done by every man and its dog. Come up with brand new story lines. There is enough material out there for people to make their own way in missions. New modes is one direction you could take...

Try doing the impossible. Prove people wrong. If someone says something cant be done then go prove them wrong. Its something Ive been doing since Ive started modding Legacy and Ive done many things people have said cant be done. It may and most likely will piss people off but you will get more recognition and respect for it (something Ive found with modding Legacy is people dont like being told that they are wrong ).

If you are stuck for ideas, I will give you a few:

-Turn object collision on (requires changes to physics, AI and artillery) -Free/manual targeting (requires hp based target system to be switched off) -Fill in the gaps with the stock campaign -Complete the additional ships that are hidden in Legacy (whether you port or create its up to you)

Or look at other mods at what they are doing, try different delivery methods to achieve similar results. There is plenty you can do, your only limited by your imagination and your determination.

back ON topic. I think theres allot that can be done with TB3. There are so many tiny details not normally considered that could be altered to enhance the gaming experience. Your team is full of flare and experience and with prior mods, you have shown what your capable of.

if you need any help I'll be on your forums or gdata has my msn :D
