If there is one thing I can not stand it is 'porting' or the taking of console-based interfaces and systems and integrating them poorly to the PC realm.

This drove me crazy in Oblivion (TES4) due to the oversized menu interface that was obviously not designed with a mouse and keyboard in mind but a controller. I see the same problems in STL and this time they simply annoy me more. I would like to pay special note to the ship selection screens and the in-game map screen. Both of which act and behave as if one would use a D-Pad.

Being a staunch supporter of PC gaming over anything else (to the point of actually holding severe disdain for consoles) this, I find, as most stock things in STL: Unacceptable. I demand that I have some sort of drop-down menu selection capability for my ship selection and furthermore, more of a free-roaming capacity in my map screen (and @#$@ me 3D would be nice)

In this stead, I am to attempt a modification to rectify these errors, I know I could do it in Javascript or even Java itself - but I fear that I am too lowly acquainted with Legacy's engine to properly modify the UI. Any help would be appreciated along these lines, thank you so much

Perhaps you will find this of interest;

Although it is titled as new Skirmish Menu it adds to more than just the Skirmish menu. ;)

This doesn't really add what I want to see such as a dropdown menu and I'd KILL to see Bridge Commander's "choose the enemy's ship configuration" option. These are things I wish to add

I will create a new menu, but I do not know when and with which options I will release it, because It is really difficult even with an xml editor.

I'd be most inclined to find out some way to select enemy shipping, allowing for specified battles instead of the AI's persistant "best ship with the money" philosophy. Along with that would be some kind of map selection screen with thumbnails, as seen in that interface mod and as stated, the menus. If you need any assistance with the XMLs let me know, PM me here and I'll do what I can! :) Thanks so much

Regarding enemy ship selection, this is hardcoded.

As for thumbnails there is a mod called Skirmish Menu available. I'm not sure if its on Legacyfiles but if you search on the official forums there is a link available

I know how to modify xml's but I do not know what you (and other Legacy gamers) want the menu to look like.

hop over to BCfiles and download the bridge commander demo. basicly port the game play, menus etc etc into legacy then call your mod Bridge Commander 2 :D. You would be a hero for so many trek gamers.

That's actually impossible, the two games are so drastically different. Sure we can port ships but not the rest of it.

This is possible if you put the exe files together and creating a new game engine, which would be illegal and very difficult. But something between Armada, Elite Force, Legacy and BC would be really awesome... ...and impossible. I like Legacy as it is (but I would like to have the tools, too!)
