I just got Legacy running well on mac using vmware and the game is amazing. Seems like there are a lot of good add ons that can be downloaded being made by fans and I wanted to get some advice on which to use or try in Star Trek: Legacy > Large_Addons > Total Conversions: The Ultimate Universe, The Legendary Generations and Trek Battles Mod all look pretty interesting can I use all of them or just one? Any other mods I should try that would enrich the gaming experience?

howdy...

i hope you have better luck than i did, i ended up with nearly all of them. each delivering the goods in their own unique way.

i recommend going to the mods website to get the most up-to-date file.

Ultimate Universe

Trek Battles

Aftermath

i'm not sure about "Keys of Legacy" of "Legendary Generations" as i haven't got to those yet.

in either case, make sure you have a back-up of your game before installing a total conversion. i'm not sure about the other modders, but each conversion i have works off a "vanilla" install of the game. so depending on which one or all mods you want to run, you need a separate copy of a "plain/vanilla" game. for help with the install of any mod, there are programs in the "tools" section for that.

i started with Ultimate Universe and was shocked that the game could get any better. then i tried Trek Battles and then Aftermath mods... both good as UU.

hope this helps... enjoy!

Yep you can do more than 1 copy of legacy easily. As long as you have the harddrive space. Just take the stock unmodded Star Trek Legacy folder and make a copy of it. When you download a mod install it to the copy. To do more than one of the TC mods just make multiple copies.

Always make sure you install them to a Stock Unmodded install, I recommend keeping an unmodded install that you never use for easy duplication.

Thanks for the help. I tried a bunch of them and I think I am going to use Ultimate Universe 1.0 and Ultimate Universe 1.5 Upgrade. Making copies really sped up the process.

If you are looking for races, I would go for some of the smaller mods too. I built my install with New Race Mod 3.3 and Alliance beta. Alot of the races in the NRM are useless, so its actually a simple matter to replace them with more interesting ones; instead of just dominion, I have a Breen and Jem Hadar race, and a delta and alpha quadrant miscellaneous, etc. Community mod on top of those makes for neat interface effects, but installing it is tricky. If you wish to go this route, I can help you out. I was a newby not long ago too.

wait for Trek Battles three, it's got more races than you have fingers and toes, and more ships than u have sperm count.
