Please can anyone help me out? In every instance that I try to port a ship over to Legacy, the flash when the ship jumps to warp is yellow instead of the standard blue....... ....is there something I'm leaving out or supposed to do as part of the porting procedure?
Check the glow file. Besides , something's wrong with that glow. What damage texture are You using? Couse by accident You could assing standard texture file to the damage mesh. If that's what happened , than the damage mesh is also using the glow file. (had that problem with my TLE Refit pack)
I'm sorry tiptop but I don't really get what you mean by this....
tiptop;4768380....cause by accident you could assing standard texture file to the damage mesh. If that's what happened than the damage mesh is also using the glow file..
.......but it does sound like your right(why the glow is coming out yellow)and I'm using damageinterior by the way.
I don't have time for modding but if You send me the ms3d and the textures I may be able to fix that.
Please don't take this the wrong way or anything tiptop cause I really really do appreciate you offering your hands on help with this but isn't there any chance that you can just tell me what I'm doing wrong(or where I went wrong)and how to fix it so that at the same token I can also learn from this, instead of just handing this problem over to you and having you fix it just to then not have a clue as to what you did for the next time I try to port a ship?
Did you name the damage mesh "in_M3D-FILE-NAME" ? And is it's joint connected to "h_damage"?
All texture files are named XXX_glow.dds I've seen that on BC ships but never in Legacy. I'll make some tests today but You shoud try to change the names of those files by removing the "_glow" part. That also means that You'll have to create new "Legacy glow files". If You don't know what I'm talkng about , go to Your Legacy/Textures/DDS folder and check some texture files with "_glow" in the name. That "_glow" part in the texture name , makes everything that's not black in that file glowing. Sorry for my english.
I didn't make it!
I kind of think Tiptop was going to Look at it to "see" exactly what you did wrong, then tell you what the fix is. Not that he was offering to fix it without telling you and having to fix everyone of your ships you make from now on. It's easier to figure out what's wrong by looking at your ms3d and textures than it is to guess from a single screenshot.
Ok. I've checked everything. First change the names of those texture files. For example: Excel1_glow.dds -> Excel1.dds Beside that there are some errors in the joint section of Your ms3d file. All "m_" joints should be connected to "h_root" or better to "h_hull0". In Your case only two of them are connected to "h_root". change the name of the damage material(material , not damage texture). "in_damage" will work perfectly. The last one won't change a thing but for me is very annoying. In one of the first versions of his great m3d exporter , Moon made a small error in the readme file and since then everyone makes the same error over and over again even after Moon corrected that in some later version. REMEMBER: "h_shield" , not "h_sheild" After that the ship should work fine but no part will glow , so You'll need to make new "glow files". Belive me it's simple. Just download some other LegacyFiles ship and look how the author made his glow files. For the future , if You're not sure if the joints were made correctly use Tools/Model Information in Milkshpe. It helps , just check the "+skeleton". That way You'll see what's connected to what.
Been i while since i did any Legacy modding, but i had a similar problem last year.
Make sure the black in your glow textures is 100% black as in R= 0 G= 0 B= 0
