Is there a way to fire weapons while moving? If I fire phasers while holding down one of the WASD keys to move, the ship stops moving until the phaser capacitor is empty, as if it could only accept one key at a time. I would use the mouse buttons to fire, but since the target lock is lost when you move the mouse (and therefore the camera), this has proven somewhat bothersome.

The mouse has nothing to do with the target lock being lost.

I play Legacy with either a combination of the Mouse and Keyboard or with the Xbox 360 controller. When I use the Keyboard/Mouse I use the mouse to look around, change throttle, and fire both weapons while I turn (WASD) and change ship selection (12345) and targeting (Space, F) by use of the keyboard.

If you don't like looking around with the mouse you can in theory hold it still and only fire with it. Granted if your mouse is sensitive you will probably end up moving it now and then.

I hate firing with the keyboard it's too annoying..

What do you mean "the mouse has nothing to do with the target lock being lost?" When I move my mouse (sometimes unintentionally), the target lock disappears because moving the mouse moves the camera. The real question remains how can I get the keyboard to accept more than one key at a time, like any other game?

if you move the mouse, the camera moved but your still targetted. your keyboard should generally accept multiple keys pressed. older ones can only handle 2 or three i think. i doubt its the game, you might just need a new keyboard.

Moving of the Camera doesn't change Target, Phaser or Photon Lock state, Phaser or Photon Firing arc, Or even Subsystem Targeting Locks.

The mouse only changes the direction the Camera is looking. You can also fire Phasers or Photons with the use of the left and right buttons. You can change your Throttle up or down by rolling the mouse wheel.

Anything you have seen beyond that is coincidental. You can fire on a ship that's offscreen as long as you still have it targeted and it's in a firing arc for that type of weapon. Short of having some extra buttons on your mouse I can't think of any way that you could change/lose your target by use of the mouse alone.

If you are flying and press the "F" key on the keyboard, you target whatever is under the mouse cursor at the time, or if nothing is under the mouse cursor you end up with no target.

My keyboard is only two years old, and I can input more than one key at a time on other games.

I should also add that the problem prevents me from steering the ship properly, as I can pitch OR bank, but not both at the same time.

i have the exact same problem as you, it's definately not a prob with the keyboard. we're stuck with having to use the mouse to keep the ship in view i guess...

You press Ctrl or Alt yourship looses the ability to steer until it's released.

The reason isn't that Multiple Keys don't work.. It's because Legacy see's "Ctrl+A" instead of "A". Therefore since "A" by it self isn't pressed and "Ctrl+A" doesn't mean "Turn Left" the ship stops turning.

In theory you might be able to overcome that by modifiying the input.map.... Hmm interesting I never thought of it before..

Just to let you know, I checked out and you can't assign multiple control keys to the directional controls so the above potential fix won't work.

That's not to say you can't reassign the Phaser and Photon keys to alternate keys, and therefore still maintain maneuvering of the ship while firing the weapons via the keyboard.
