I have a really strange problem with the menus (even in-game). I'm running the game without ANY lag ingame on high graphics settings but for some reason the menus lag like mad:mad:. Here are my specs:

P4 2.4g Ati X800GTO (256m) 1gig ram 80 gig hardrive (30gig free) Windows XP (not service pack 2) ... will download next month directx 9.0 c don't know about my sound card but the sound is great.

Could someone please help, i have already installed the user interface mod by Chrissstrahl but to no avail.

You know, I never really cared for ATI Radeon. I always thought GeForce was better. That's what I have, and my menu rarely freezes up. The only reason my card isn't perfect is that my card is OLD, version 6600. Seriously, I think GeForce is the way to go. But that's just me.

this might work a little:

open "gui_graphicsSettings.cfg", go to the line

// TitleText: StandardPureText TitleTextArea = 192 -85 500 70 TitleTextFont = "title" TitleTextColor = 0.109804 0.541176 0.811765 TitleTextJustify = "CENTER" TitleTextLabel = "GRAPHICS SETTINGS"

and change it to

// TitleText: StandardPureText TitleTextArea = 500 -85 500 70 TitleTextFont = "title" TitleTextColor = 0.109804 0.541176 0.811765 TitleTextJustify = "CENTER" TitleTextLabel = "GRAPHICS SETTINGS"

this is for the menu's found it with my eyes open elsewhere on this forum (might be because i made that post...)

Henze, is it true that if you have a higher-performance graphics card, higher say than a GeForce 6600 (I know, ancient stuff), would the ship names still be blacked out?

A 6600 isnt old stuff, a Velocity 128 is an example of an old card.

from what i have read, it might just be a problem with the drivers...but i don't know if the age and/or type of a videocard is the cause of the blackouts on the ships...

if you got blackouts on any of your ships, try to update your videodrivers...

Hello, I had a similar problem. I'm running a 2.8 GHz chip but had a 128 meg video. Changed to a 512 and the problem went away. Hope this helps.
