A few other games have this, a maximum tech/age that a race/civilization can advance to, or "set starting/end age" option. In Supreme Commander the tech levels are very well varied and in order to access the higher tier units you have to make use of the lower techs. What I'm getting at is would it help or hinder the game if there was a tech limit, such as if 2 players agree to only go as high as tech 1, and fight it out with basic units, or the players agree to start off on with all units available and fight it out that way. We could even have tech 2 vs tech 2 games, with tech 2 being the most advanced tier you can get to.

In TA there was an option to set unit limits for multiplayer games. For example, you turned off the Adv. Kbot labs if you didn't want players building T2 Kbots. Or you could limit players to building only 2 fusion power plants.

I'm not sure if that's in SupCom though, but if it isn't it should be easy enough to mod in.

T1 units suck, go as high and quickly as you can and forget about tech limits.
