I've always been into mechs from transformers to, heavy gear, K-bots in TA, APUs in the Matrix, I could go on but won't. But I really find the commanders in supcom to be poorly modelled. It's just a personnal thing but they don't look memacing or make me think, i'd love to pilot one of them bad boys and destroy my foes!!!! , they look abit silly .. like they were drawn by a five year old.Thinking back to TA, the pee wees we're cool...zeus' too but these new units don't matter to me as much , I hope someone mods the old ta units into the game. 1 more thing, why despite the cybrans being the obvious good guys, do they look angular/red and menacing/evil??? Plus there leader Brackman is creepy in a priest/choir boy way , my boy....
None of them are intended to be portrayed as the good guys, it's supposed to be ambiguous. The cybrans simply come off as the good guys to you (me as well).
Have you conisdered learning how to model? Any mod team porting the TA units to SupCom will need all the old units remodelled in higher detail. That's an awful lot of models.
Good idea I might try and find out how to do it (as long as it;s possible for a complete novice to do) that way i'm doin somethin rather than sitting back rubbishing other peoples hard work(which wasn't my intention). I think i chose my words wrong, when i said 'poorly modelled' in my initial post , i'm referring soley to their look which obviously originated on a sketch pad.
Yeah, I know. 1997 technology and all. Cavedog did make some (relatively) hi-poly models for the cutscenes, and those pictures in between campaign missions.
The Cybran Commander does look more menacing than the other two I would say. Hopefully they will do what they did with TA (Spring Project) and make it so you can control your commander from inside and lead your troops personally! That would be sweet.
I think that since they wanted no "bad guys", they may have realized that the Cybrans had a better cause to fight for so they wanted to make them look more evil to give the other factions a chance. but I think the commanders are Ok, I think the Aeon's is coolest but it has too many lights and an ugly face. I want my commander to look Aeon with a UEF commander's head design, and be on the Cybran team. But if you look at all the units in the game, most are poorly designed. Like the aricraft, they are in the future but the UEF torpedo bomber hardly looks any better than a WWII aircraft. And swept forward wings!? That makes more drag, you want them swept BACK. The Aeon seem to know aircraft very well. And the UEF is just all ugly, they are all modified boxes one way or another. I would like a mod that gives every player different models to use for each commander of each faction. That would be cool.

for your info (i dont think you really care) but forward swept wings grants greater manouverability (at least according to the last thing i read) but it may make more drag (that, i dont know)
on topic, i think the UEF commander looks the best - the aeon has too many lights and the cybran is too angular
Ah, I guess when you remove the pilot you can take greater Gs. I didn't really think about that. Turning faster would be an advantage.
Cybran - Too lanky and pointy Aeon - The same but with lots of lights (2nd best) EUF - I personally think is the best :)
