Ok, I'm new to the modding process for Star Wars: Battlefront, but I have modded for a game called Morrowind for a few years now so I'm familiar with modding in general. Anyway, I couldn't really figure out how to do a few things. Here are the two most important ones I can recall on the spot: *How do you define what units are for each side? (I've attempted to do this, resulting in a CTD) *How do you define what weapons each unit has? Or rather, is it possible to make new units and define their weapons, health, etc. (using pre-existing models or custom ones) And another question in general: I wish to have it so that you can plau the Tatooine: Dune Sea level as either the Tuskens or the Jawas, however I don't want to replace the map but rather to add it as an extra, optional map. I have a few ideas, but I'm not 100% certain.
The first two are done with .lvl file editing, which I have been trying to figure out since I started here. The last one you have to copy the dune sea level from the shipped worlds folder in assets for the SDK tools, move the tusken file to sides in the new folder, and edit the .lua so it read them instead of imps or allies.
.lvl editing you say... which .lvl files would I be editing? (Hopefully not any of the default ones that come with the game... remember, I don't want to change anything, but rather ADD things.
Those are the .lvls. But they should be in the SIDES folder in assets like everything else.

so... none of you knows how to edit them... damn it, must find someone
I just figured out how to edit/make custom units. It's quite a simple procedure actually. All you have to do is go to BFBuilder/Assets/Sides and then choose which team you wish to add units to. Then, make a copy of any of the files you want to base your new unit off of and open up the renamed copy with Notepad. Here you can change everything from Unit Name to Weapons to Health, etcetera. Now, my only problem is adding the units to the selection list... whenever I change any of the units at all (whether they be custom or included) the game CTD's for no apparent reason. By the way, I would like to thank you for attempting to help me. I feel I will soon become a proficient modder for Battlefront.

We all know how to do that. Unless your saying you have seen the results in game then we would be seeing something new. So did you change it AND then see the changes in game? I must know.
Open it with notepad? I've tried that and whenever I do it become unresponsive. I've been wanting to increase darktrooper health. I suppose I'll try again.
