The 77th MEU is a unit formed and structured after the Marine fighting force known as the Marine Expeditionary Unit and run by the founders Col. Bogren and Lt. Col. Balas. The 77th uses real and hybrid tactics to overwhelm even much larger forces with speed and precision fighting. You will gain rank, awards, and respect in the unit with the more time you spend here. One day you may even wear the prestigious Veteran's Ribbon of the 77th MEU.

Once you have filled out an application for the 77th MEU, you will be introduced as a recruit. As such you will need to attend drills and training events until your "hell week" passes. After this you may gain the rank of private if you are going into the 3/7 BLT (infantry) or if you are going into HMM-154 Black-Knights (air) you will endure further Air Combat training and then receive the rank of Warrant Officer 1.

runningsd7.jpg During training you will learn squad formations and tactics such as firing arcs, areas of responsibility, setting up different types of defensive positions, interlocking fields of fire, attacking techniques and tactics, HALO jumping, Marksmanship, including MOS Training, and much more.

mclary2hs0.jpgSquad Leaders and Officers must learn how to use and know all tactics and techniques. They must learn communication protocol such as how to call in support, insertion, extraction, airstrikes, etc. Each member above the rank of Corporal must read and learn FM 6.1 NCO and Officer Manual to learn how to command troops and the mentality that goes behind it.

An entire forum is dedicated to solid and complete volumes of tactics with an edition of Air Combat tactics, Armored Tactics, and Special Operations tactics, 2 editions of Scout/Sniping tactics, and 6 editions of infantry tactics as well as the NCO and Officer Manual. These are the solid core of the 77th.

Lt. Col. Balas takes extreme pride in the Scout/Sniping program that he set up and runs. Any potential STA (Surveillance and Target Acquisition) recruit must fill out his due time in the regular infantry as well as complete a few extra requirements. After this time, he may apply for sniper and begin his training in which he will learn how to use cover, Surveillance and Observation techniques, and precision firing as well as many other things. He then must take the STA test which depending on the points; he will fail or gain the rank of Private first class, Sergeant, or Staff Sergeant. There are only 2 open spots in the STA section so not everyone who applies will get in. It is the coveted spot of the infantry.

The 77th MEU's own HMM-154 Black-Knights are at the top of the food chain in terms of air combat and piloting. There are only spots for a fluctuating number of 4-7 pilots at any one time in the airwing, 2 spots permanently occupied by its C.O. (Maj. Werstein) and X.O. (Capt. Clancy). The Black-Knights are a coveted spot for the recruit who thinks himself good enough to get into the pilot seat.
