I don't have a disk to insert, which it asks you to do when running the application

I don't know, but it seems it's not possible. I did some Googling and found pretty much nothing. Look:

I suppose you could ask on the Steam forum (Steam forum is generally the best place to ask for help with the games bought on Steam), but if the thread I found went unanswered, I doubt you'd have any more luck. It's up to you, though. :)
