I need to know how to make elevators...
I remember reading somewhere you use areas..and use an object. When the player steps into one area, the object moves down (allowing the player to step onto it.) Then when the player steps onto the object, there is another area there, which makes the object go up. And at the top there is areas to make it come up, and go down.
I need the specifics please! I need this for a map I'm working on. If I can get elevators in, it will be an extremely fun map!
elevators are possible, ask dann boeing.
Good, good. I was absolutely not willing to have a giant staircase winding up, when I could just have an elevator..
I've found a good object to use as an elevator, but how do I make it actually go up and down? I used the "Simple Elevator" from the "Proof of Concept: Elevators" map, but the game just crashes when I add the stuff into the LUA script (although no script error is reported during the munge process..). I took the scripting for the elevator outta the LUA, and left the regions in, and the game doesn't crash (but the elevator doesn't work either..).
Can anyone help?
I didn't make it!
All I can say is to run your map through the BF2_modtools. When you do, it should create a notepad in you're GameData folder. Read the document and after reading it a few times, you might see your errors. That's the only thing I can think of.
BF2_Modtools.exe? Those don't work..missing a dynamic library link in binkw32.dll. Even after I regsvr32'd it, still didn't work.
I just use VisualMunge, and ZeroEditor. No errors come up when I use VisualMunge, so I don't see what's wrong..
You have to copy it into your gameData folder for it to work.
-_- Yes I know. I'm trying to get elevators in my map. I've already installed the Proof of Concept map..and yes I played around with it. I just can't get it to work in my map.
what's the object? is it huge?
Not big at all, can fit two people. It's the "hoth_prop_command_mainframe" ODF. It needs to be fairly small, because it's a small elevator shaft.
