I've looked for answers to this but people say to use the editlocalize but that is for custom maps. I would like to know if there's a way to have the different names for weapons,units,etc. for the game itself, not just one map.

Well do you know what TEC mod is? That guy has renamed all the weapons, and you only have to replace all the sides, and the mission.lvl, not the core.lvl. How did he do that?
He made weapon names called DC15_Rifle, or DC15c_Commando_Carbine. That's a way to save tons of file space for localization, but since he had a huge mod, this isn't necessary for your mod map. Unless it's a gigantic file size, of course. - EP-782
