Are you sure you are getting the sides from the assets folder? And anyway to skin you use the .tga files not the .msh's the .tga is the the texture on the object character etc. and the .msh is the physical object.

well i cant find either of em in the battle front II folder on my program files.

They are in BF2_ModTools\assets\sides. Then the side you want to edit and open the msh folder. In this case republic. BF2_ModTools\assets\sides\rep\msh Then you find the skin you want to edit. For example the EP3 trooper, rep_inf_ep3trooper. Open it in Gimp, photoshop or whatever you use and then you edit the skin. (This is not how you put the skin ingame)
