1) download modtools 2) go to assets/sides 3) pick desired team folder 4) open C:\BF2_ModTools\assets\sides\ABC\msh where ABC is the team 5) open with image manipulator, such as photoshop or gimp.
1) to use it you would have to make a new map by going into C:\BF2_ModTools\data and then _build and opening 'Modtools VisualMunge.exe' 2) Go to data_ABC where ABC is the map's three letter map ID 3) copy the desired team folder and common folder into C:\BF2_ModTools\data_ABC\Sides 4) Go to C:\BF2_ModTools\data_ABC\Common\scripts\ABC 5) ABCc_con.lua is for republic/CIS era, ABCg_con.lua is for imperial/rebel era 6) open up the one for the desired era 7) let's say you're using the republic/CIS era, go down to
ReadDataFile("sound\\yav.lvl;yav1cw") ReadDataFile("SIDE\\rep.lvl", "rep_inf_ep3_rifleman", "rep_inf_ep3_rocketeer", "rep_inf_ep3_engineer", "rep_inf_ep3_sniper", "rep_inf_ep3_officer", "rep_inf_ep3_jettrooper", "rep_hover_fightertank", "rep_hero_anakin", "rep_hover_barcspeeder") ReadDataFile("SIDE\\cis.lvl", "cis_inf_rifleman", "cis_inf_rocketeer", "cis_inf_engineer", "cis_inf_sniper", "cis_inf_officer", "cis_inf_droideka", "cis_hero_darthmaul", "cis_hover_aat") ReadDataFile("SIDE\\tur.lvl", "tur_bldg_laser", "tur_bldg_tower")
if you're editing the republics skins, add dc: before SIDE like this
8) open munge at C:\BF2_ModTools\data_ABC\_BUILD 9) go to where it says sides and select 'EVERYTHING' instead of 'NOTHING'
no, these don't change your game forever unless you overwrite the original maps. don't worry about that though, because the mod maps usually go in C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\addon
Wow. That doesn't seem very simple.:uhoh:

That depends on what kind of mod. If you DL any mod, you should backup up the folder(s) it modifies. I.E. if you DL a sides mod, something that changes the 501st to, lets say 41st, you should copy your game's SIDE folder and put it somewhere safe. It would help to know what mod you're planning on getting.

Considering that thats a final release you shouldn't have any problems but if you(with this one specifically cause it overwrites some stock files) you will have to uninstall and completely remove everything. Although to prevent having to do this you could just backup your SWBF2 folder and then DL the pack to the original location.
Does any have a really good mod, but is very simple to install like all you have to do is install it on your addon folder?
that would be a map. there is currently a goldrush for maps. if you can't find any here, go to gametoast.com
