I have now made a map for BFII and when it loads the game crashes and returns to the desktop does anyone know what is wrong?
Tell us what you changed in the map, include exact copies of what you changes in the script and odf files.
all i did was edit the AAAc_con file where i changed the flight height for both infantry and ships to 60 and increased the reinforcement count for both sides to 250 and i made the kas2_water lignt blue due to the tropical island theme of the map
How did you change the water color? Skinning, or inputting different RGBA values into ZE?
i used photoshop
How did you add the water? Did you check the water worked before changing the texture / color?
And did you save the texture correctly? (On top a blank layer, .tga format, etc.?)
it is in .tga format but one question; since i changed the sky and water do i need to rename them to ABC_water etc? ill give that a try and see what happens
The sky you need to rename, (the sky file, not the tga), the water you do not. Wait! I have an idea, I can't believe I didn't think of this before. Go to C:\BF2_ModTools and you should see something called BF2_modtools.exe. Move it to C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData and launch it from there. You will get BF2 with a smaller screen and green across the top. Play through your map, let it crash. Then go to your GameData folder. There should be a file called BF_log.txt or something like that. THAT FILE IS GOLD. It will tell you exactly what's wrong with your map. Open it, and search for Severity: 3. Post any results here, and I'll tell you what they mean.
I repeat, how did you add your water? Did you copy over all the bump maps normals and speculars? Did you make the .fx file?
