Hey all, I'm brand new to modding Battlefront, and I had some specific questions. I know it's a pain to help noobs but I think my questions can probably be answered pretty easy, I'm just not seeing the answers anywhere I've looked. Here goes.

1: I have several modded maps installed but on the game's map select screen, they show up as abbreviations and gibberish. Endar Spire is listed as something like ESP &*%^ for example. How do I change this?

2: Can I change a level's makeup so that I can alter which heroes appear on it? For example I'm sick of seeing Princess Leia in all my assaults. Can I alter something to make her Luke or something instead?

3: I'd like to have assault available in all the standard BF and BF2 maps. This may not be possible, but if it is, is there a database or something that lists which mods are required for this?

I don't do any mod creating myself, so I'm unfamiliar with any SWBF modding program. I'm just a user who likes to install new maps and characters into my game. So if anyone can help me with these basics, which might involve editing the lvl file (something else I'm clueless about) I would GREATLY appreciate your help.

Thats because you install this first. Star Wars Battlefront 2 - v1.1 Patch [US], Star Wars Battlefront 2 Downloads, Star Wars Battlefront 2 Patches

2: Can I change a level's makeup so that I can alter which heroes appear on it? For example I'm sick of seeing Princess Leia in all my assaults. Can I alter something to make her Luke or something instead?

You would need to use a hex editor and modify the lvl file for that map(not sure if its the same for stock maps or not havn't attempted). Google for a program. There are a few guides and tuts on ths files site as well as at Gametoast.

3: I'd like to have assault available in all the standard BF and BF2 maps. This may not be possible, but if it is, is there a database or something that lists which mods are required for this?

Again a hex editor and Gametoast is your friend for this. Hex editing becomes one of the hardest thing to do for bf2 modding when you get lost in all the symbols...happened to me. Frustrating it is, you really need patience and comon sense for well...for doing any kind of modding for any game really.

Ah, Install the patch first, then the modded maps? I'll do that. Is there any way I can rename these maps myself though?

As for the hex editor- I'll check out gametoast and see what I can find but the site won't accept new registers for some reason so I can't communicate there. Is there a certain type of hex editor I need to use for this game specifically, or are they all the same? Either way I'll look into it.

Thanks a lot for the input. It helps to know what's hard and what's even possible.

# 3 is impossible as far as I know, it would require adding in extra content to the existing mission.lvl (which I don't think you can do let alone someone who has absolutely no experience could do) so unless you'd like to get rid of one of your other modes and change it to assault. There is no known way to rename the maps yourself without the 1.1 patch so just don't even bother to try that it's just a waste of your time since the 1.1 has bug fixes and more it's 100% better than wasting countless hours trying to rename maps and then continue to have the other multiple bugs.
