I wanted to skin some battledroids for my map, so I downloaded GIMP 2.2. It works fine, but when I open a battledroid in GIMP, the image is very faded out and I can't make anything out. Everything else opens fine and the battledroids look fine when I open them in IrfanView. I'm not sure what the problem is and I need some help. Thamks!

The GIMP is really weird. It happens with the Anakin skin too. If you can, try using Paint Shop Pro X. It works much better than the GIMP.

Alright then, Thamks. (Sorry again) I was thinking of changing the Republic into the Banana Republic, painting them yellow, and changing their weapons so they all have the word "banana" in it somewhere. Mines will be called "Banana Peels." The CIS will be called the Fruits of the Loom (they'll be skinned, too) and the mode will be called "Fruit Wars."

GIMP is perfectly fine to use. That faded checker pattern is called a Alpha Channel and it controls transparency.

To remove it do this. Tools>Color Tools>Levels

A new window will open.

Then Go to the drop down labeled Channel and pick Alpha. On the second chart below with the white and black arrow, move the white arrow all the way to 255.

To restore the Alpha Channel, go back to Levels and select Alpha and hit reset at the bottom.

I opened up a battledroid skin with paint.net and it was fine... save room for pain.net.

I did what vf501 told me to do, and it worked fine. I'm done with my skinning, but what should I do next? Should I just save the .tga and munge?

I honestly don't know. No one on this forum specifically tells you how to make the game read your new skins... it's like it's a government conspiracy... oh wait, I work for the government, I'd know that... unless it was something done durring Vietnam... hm...
