Hi there, I've been having some trouble lately, anyway when I first installed this game it worked perfectly the game would start, other then the part where I had to use Ctrl Alt Del to set affinity, anyway everytime I click Launch to play a game or campaign it closes, and goes to the desktop. I've tried system restore and nothing. I even tried unistalling and reinstalling. Nothing! Any Suggestions? -Troy
CTD's on shipped maps? Hm. Post your video and/or graphics card. Check to see if its compatible with BF2. I haven't checked these forums in a while, sorry for not getting to this sooner.
yes im also having this problem today it was working fine until it crashed once then it would always crash whenever i tried to play any map
how many maps do you have in your addon folder? if its over 40 none of them will work. also if you have a mod you might have installed it wrong.
56 is the max amount of maps you can have in your addon before you start getting CTDs, unless your pc just can't handle it.
i had like five custom maps and ive had more maps on my old laptop and it didnt crash, my desktop can handle it and i tried reinstalling the dvd ver and cd ver and it still crashed
Are these mod maps that are crashing or the shipped maps? If its mods try uninstalling them (or move them out) and try running the game again.
well (sorry troy for taking over your thread:uhm:) i uninstalled the mod maps and game and reinstalled the game several times and it didnt help
I realize that this is a slightly older thread, but it is almost the exact same issue that I am having. I recently got a new desktop and tried installing just the game, no mods. Everytime I try to launch a mission it crashes to the desktop. I have tried setting the affinity for the CPU, verified that all sound devices are enabled, and even made sure that I had the most recent patch from LucasArts to support dual core. There is one thing that I have not tried yet, and from what I have read it might be the problem. I have a Realtek soundcard (onboard sound), and it looks like that might be the problem. I will try to disable it and see if that lets me run the game. The LucasArts thread I found this reference in is here: LucasArts Technical Support Forums Note: The other option that I have seen (not tried yet) is to disable the modem (if you have one). This might cause an issue as well. For some reason my Mobo came with a Lan connection, and a built in Modem. I am going to try disabling the modem first, then the sound. I will post my results.
Well, I promised to post my results if when I finally got a chance to try my fixes. I checked out my soundcard and enabled any devices that were disabled. After doing this, my game worked perfectly. I would definitely recommend trying this first. Usually the device is in the recording section.
